Omschrijving onderdeel 13: (Bij Voorsterweg 139; op de bijbehorende kaart aangegeven met nr. 13) SOKKEL MET ZONNEWIJZER IN DE ROZENTUIN
Zandstenen SOKKEL (30/40 cm. breed en 1,10 m. hoog), vroeg voorbeeld van de vroege Lodewijk XVI-stijl en met panelen, kraalprofiel en de typische ronde beëindiging met de rechthoekige verspringingen. Zowel het basement als het dekstuk zijn geprofileerd en uitspringend; de verfijnde vormen van het dekstuk zijn verweerd, zodat alleen de hoofdvorm nog over is. Op de sokkel een ZONNEWIJZER uit 1766. De bronzen zonnewijzerplaat, ernstig beschadigd door het plaatsen van een bol-zonnewijzer op de plaat, is in Arnhem door Reyers vervaardigd, 1766. De ronde plaat ligt in principe los (en is dus afstelbaar) wordt op zijn plaats gehouden door 4 eveneens bronzen hoekstukken die van de cirkel een vierkant maken. Zowel de plaat als de hoekstukken zijn fijn geciseleerd en versierd met bloemen, guirlandes etc. Het zonnewijzer-vingertje is niet meer aanwezig.

De SOKKEL MET ZONNEWIJZER is van algemeen belang:

Description of component 13: (At Voorsterweg 139; indicated on the accompanying map with no. 13) BASE WITH SUNDIAL IN THE ROSE GARDEN
Sandstone BASE (30/40 cm wide and 1.10 m high), early example of the early Louis XVI style and with panels, beading profile and the typical round termination with rectangular offsets. Both the base and the cap piece are moulded and projecting; the refined forms of the cap piece are weathered, so that only the main form remains. On the base a SUNDIAL from 1766. The bronze sundial plate, seriously damaged by the placement of a ball sundial on the plate, was made in Arnhem by Reyers, 1766. The round plate lies in principle loose (and is therefore adjustable) and is held in place by 4 equally bronze corner brackets that transform the circle into a square. Both the plate and the corner brackets are finely chased and decorated with flowers, garlands etc. The sundial gnomon is no longer present.
