Omschrijving onderdeel 8: 24 RUÏNE behorende bij de buitenplaats Oldruitenborg.
"De Toutenburg", ruïne van het vroegere slot Toutenburg met slotgracht. Het slot werd gebouwd tussen 1524 en 1552 op instigatie van de in 1540 overleden legeraanvoerder van Karel V, Georg Schenk. Van dit slot, dat omstreeks 1700 in bezit raakte van de familie Sloet en omstreeks het einde van de 18de eeuw werd afgebroken, bij welke gelegenheid bouwmateriaal werd hergebruikt voor vergroting van het slot Old Rutenborg, zijn de volgende restanten bewaard: Twee gedeelten van ronde bakstenen poorttorens, waaronder kleine gewelven van (kanon?)kelders en een put (?) met restanten van een weergang; dit alles met restanten van detaillering en pleisterwerk en gelegen op een rechthoekig omgracht terrein dat nog verdere restanten van het slot in zich bergt. De ruïne is als folly op een eiland in het wandelbos geïntegreerd.

Description component 8: RUIN belonging to the country estate Oldruitenborg.
"De Toutenburg", ruin of the former castle Toutenburg with castle moat. The castle was built between 1524 and 1552 at the instigation of Georg Schenk, the military commander of Charles V who died in 1540. Of this castle, which came into the possession of the Sloet family around 1700 and was demolished around the end of the 18th century, on which occasion building materials were reused for the enlargement of the castle Old Rutenborg, the following remains have been preserved: Two sections of round brick gatehouse towers, including small vaults of (cannon?) cellars and a well (?) with remains of a rampart walk; all this with remains of detailing and plasterwork and situated on a rectangular moated plot that contains further remains of the castle. The ruin has been integrated as a folly on an island in the woodland walk.
