Inleiding
VILLA ("Huize Kranenburgh") met bijbehorende ERFSCHEIDING, in eclectische trant uit 1882, gebouwd in opdracht van burgemeester Jacob van Reenen. De villa is beeldbepalend gesitueerd langs de Hoflaan en ligt temidden van een grote tuin.
N.B. De museumuitbreiding uit 1993 is van ondergeschikt belang.
Omschrijving
Villa van twee bouwlagen op nagenoeg vierkante plattegrond, opgetrokken in grauwe baksteen onder een afgeplat schilddak met lozanges. De gevels zijn uitgevoerd met een gepleisterde plint, water- en cordonlijsten, en blokpilasters. Gekornist hoofdgestel met ter plaatse van de risaliet geprofileerde consoles. Vensters met schuif- en stolpraam, op de begane grond getoogd en op de verdieping recht gesloten in een geprofileerde omlijsting met kuif.
De waterdorpels van de vensters op de verdieping rusten op kleine geprofileerde consoles. De symmetrische voorgevel (Z) telt drie vensterassen waarvan de middelste in een risaliet met hoeklisenen onder steekkap. In de risaliet op de begane grond een dubbele glasdeur en daarboven een houten balkon met balustrade waarop eveneens een dubbele glasdeur opent. In het schilddakje boven de risaliet een dakkapel met openslaand venster.
De oostgevel telt drie vensterassen waarvan de middelste wordt geflankeerd door gepleisterde pilasters. In het midden de entree in een portiek met getoogde gepleisterde omlijsting, versierd met decoratieve accoladebogen. Boven de iets terugliggende oorspronkelijke dubbele paneeldeur een halfrond bovenlicht. De westgevel telt twee vensterassen met op de begane grond vensters met openslaande ramen en op de verdieping schuifvensters. In de achtergevel boven de aanbouw twee vensters zonder omlijsting.
Langs de Hoflaan een aan de bovenzijde in- en uitzwenkend houten lattenhek met een ijzeren toegangshek van twee vleugels tussen twee bakstenen pijlers onder natuurstenen dekplaten. Op de hekpijlers rechthoekige natuurstenen gevelplaten met de naam Kranenburgh.
Waardering
De uit 1882 daterende villa "Kranenburgh" met bijbehorende erfscheiding is van algemeen architectuur- en cultuurhistorisch belang als representatief voorbeeld van een villa in eclectische trant. Het pand is beeldbepalend gesitueerd langs de Hoflaan.

Description
Villa of two storeys on an almost square plan, constructed in grey brick under a flattened hipped roof with lozenges. The façades are executed with a rendered plinth, drip moulds and cornice lines, and block pilasters. Moulded main cornice with profiled consoles at the location of the risalit. Windows with sash and tilt window, arched on the ground floor and straight-headed on the first floor in a profiled surround with a hood.
The water drip edges of the first-floor windows rest on small profiled consoles. The symmetrical front façade (S) has three window bays, the central one in a risalit with corner stones under a gablet. In the risalit on the ground floor a double glass door and above it a wooden balcony with balustrade, upon which a double glass door also opens. In the gable roof above the risalit a roof dormer with a hinged window.
The east façade has three window bays, the central one flanked by rendered pilasters. In the middle the entrance in a porch with an arched rendered surround, decorated with decorative relieving arches. Above the slightly set-back original double panelled door a semicircular fanlight. The west façade has two window bays with windows with hinged panes on the ground floor and sash windows on the first floor. In the rear façade above the extension two windows without surround.
Along the Hoflaan a wooden lattice fence with inward and outward angled top with an iron entrance gate of two wings between two brick pillars under dressed stone coping. On the gate pillars rectangular dressed stone façade plates with the name Kranenburgh.
