Inleiding
IJSKELDER uit 1845 genaamd "Nova Zembla", deel uitmakend van het complex landgoed Duin en Kruidberg. De ijskelder is evenals de moestuin een overblijfsel van de buitenplaats Duin en Berg en werd gebouwd in opdracht van Van Hall, de toenmalige eigenaar van Duin en Berg. In 1895 liet J.T. Cremer de ijskelder renoveren en voorzien van een nieuwe ingangspartij in classicistische stijl.
N.B. De moderne schotten ter weerszijden van de ingang maken geen deel uit van de bescherming.
Omschrijving
De ijskelder is aan de oppervlakte alleen waarneembaar door de daar geplaatste ingangspartij. Achter deze ingang ligt een portaal dat voert naar de eigenlijke ijskelder die ingegraven is in de binnenduinrand. De ijskelder zelf bestaat uit een ronde put die afgesloten wordt met een koe-pelgewelf. De gemetselde put heeft een spouw en bezit een totale omtrek van circa vijf meter. De ingangspartij van de ijskelder is uitgevoerd in gepleisterde baksteen en voorzien van een opgeklampte deur tussen sterk geabstraheerde pilasters die een fries en kroonlijst dragen. Op de kroonlijst rust een stompe koepelvorm die de ingangspartij een gedrukt silhouet geeft en bekroond wordt door een sober driehoekig fronton. Boven de deur zijn in het pleisterwerk van het fries naast elkaar twee gedenkstenen uitgespaard waarvan de linker met het opschrift "VAN HALL./ FUND: JUN: 1845" en de rechter met "CREMER./ RENOV: SEPT: 1895".
Waardering
De ijskelder is van algemeen belang als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het complex landgoed Duin en Kruidberg; vanwege de vormgeving van het voorportaal; als karakteristiek onderdeel van een buitenplaats.

Description
Introduction
ICE HOUSE from 1845 named "Nova Zembla", forming part of the estate complex Duin en Kruidberg. The ice house, like the kitchen garden, is a remnant of the country house Duin en Berg and was built on the instructions of Van Hall, the then owner of Duin en Berg. In 1895 J.T. Cremer had the ice house renovated and provided with a new entrance section in Classical style.
N.B. The modern partitions on either side of the entrance are not part of the protection.
Description
The ice house is only perceptible at ground level through the entrance section placed there. Behind this entrance lies a portico leading to the actual ice house which is built into the inner dune edge. The ice house itself consists of a round pit which is closed off with a barrel vault. The brick-built pit has a cavity and has a total circumference of approximately five metres. The entrance section of the ice house is executed in rendered brick and provided with a clamped door between strongly abstracted pilasters which carry a frieze and cornice. On the cornice rests a squat dome shape which gives the entrance section a compressed silhouette and is crowned by a sober triangular pediment. Above the door are two memorial stones set aside in the render of the frieze next to each other, the left one with the inscription "VAN HALL./ FUND: JUN: 1845" and the right one with "CREMER./ RENOV: SEPT: 1895".
Valuation
The ice house is of general importance as a historical-functional component of the estate complex Duin en Kruidberg; on account of the design of the entrance portico; as a characteristic component of a country house.
