MAIN BUILDING. Built on a castle island, with basement, symmetrical in layout, five bays wide unrendered red brick main building, dating originally from the 17th century, but extensively remodelled in the Classicist style during the 18th century. The house was also adapted in the period 1870-1880. The building is covered by a hipped roof covered with Old Dutch tiles. The gutters between the roof have been replaced by a flat roof. Centrally on the roof at the front is a generous open bell tower with balustrade containing a clock with a 17th-century clockwork that was recently equipped with an electronic system. On the roof are four chimneys provided with caps. The front elevation is five bays wide. Centrally in the elevation is the main entrance with a natural stone steps. The entrance is surrounded by pilasters. Above the entrance, on the upper floor, a balcony with balustrade. Below the main entrance a staircase to the basement. The side elevations are three bays wide. The corners of the elevations are accentuated by surrounding corner pilasters decorated with fields and circles. Above the upper floor a mezzanine. The bel-étage and upper floor are provided with empire sash windows. The elevations are divided horizontally and accentuated by natural stone string courses and drip mouldings, as well as among other things the mezzanine, window surrounds, entrance and eaves mouldings painted in a light colour. The castle island is connected to the forecourt by means of a bridge. The castle island is rectangular in form at the front, at the rear it is rounded half-moon shaped. In the INTERIOR the following are of importance among others: the layout of the basement and bel-étage, cellar vaults, some original stucco ceilings, the internal shutters, the marble floor in the hall and the subtly detailed late-18th-century double staircase with balustrade and richly decorated newel balusters. In the 1990s the basement was extended at the rear of the house in the castle island for office and work space in the basement. On the bel-étage this extension forms a generous terrace.
