Inleiding
TUIN, van het type nutstuin, met onder meer broeikassen, als onderdeel van de buitenplaats Nijenrode.
De buitenplaats heeft zijn oorsprong in een 13de eeuws kasteel. Belangrijke uitbreidingen en restauraties hebben zich onder meer in de 17de eeuw voorgedaan Ortt, die ook de opdracht gaf voor de aanleg van een formele tuin. Vanaf 1907 was de buitenplaats in het bezit van de Amsterdamse koffiehandelaar Michiel Onnes. Hij liet het kasteel onder leiding van architect E.G. Wentinck herstellen naar een 17de eeuwse situatie en voegde enkele bijgebouwen toe. De tuinarchitecten L.A. Springer en H. Copijn waren verantwoordelijk voor de tussen 1912-1915 tot Landschappelijke tuin omgevormde aanleg met een gemengd karakter. Thans zetelt Nijenrode Universiteit voor Bedrijfskunde in het kasteel en is met de aankoop van grond in de richting van het Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal het grondgebied van de buitenplaats opnieuw vergroot.
Omschrijving
De nutstuin bevindt zich in het noorden van het park, ten westen van het rosarium. De tuin wordt gedeeltelijk begrensd door een gemetselde tuinmuur. Deze is in verband met de technische staat recent van steunberen voorzien. De entree van de tuin bevindt zich aan de oostzijde. De tuinmuur is aldaar uitgevoerd met piramidaal eindigende hoekkolommen. In het noordoosten staat de orangerie. Tegen de noordelijke muur, die de keldertoegang (waarin de verwarmingsinstallatie) en de daarmee verbonden schoorsteen van elkaar scheidt, bevindt zich een perzikkas. Evenwijdig aan de muur, in het midden van de tuin geplaatst, staat een vrijstaande kas op rechthoekig grondplan. De westelijke eindgevel is gericht naar vier in drieën verdeelde broeikassen waarvan de gemetselde plint voor de eenruiters even boven het maaiveld uit reikt. In het zuidwesten bevindt zich een gemetselde waterput.
Waardering
De nutstuin met broeikassen in het park van de historische buitenplaats Nijenrode is van algemeen belang vanwege de tuinarchitectonische waarde als goed bewaard voorbeeld van een nutstuin met bijbehorende gebouwde onderdelen; alsmede vanwege de cultuurhistorische waarde als herinnering aan de functionele inrichting van de historische buitenplaats; alsmede vanwege de historisch-functionele relatie met in het park gelegen andere deeltuinen als de landschappelijke tuin, de hertenkamp en de rozentuin. De tuin heeft ensemblewaarde vanwege de ruimtelijk-functionele relatie met de in de tuin behorende gebouwde objecten.

Description
The kitchen garden is located in the north of the park, to the west of the rosarium. The garden is partly bounded by a brick garden wall. This has recently been provided with buttresses in connection with the technical condition. The entrance to the garden is on the east side. The garden wall is executed there with pyramidally terminating corner columns. In the north-east stands the orangery. Against the northern wall, which separates the cellar entrance (in which the heating installation) and the associated chimney, is a peach house. Parallel to the wall, placed in the middle of the garden, stands a free-standing forcing house on a rectangular ground plan. The western end gable faces four forcing houses divided into three sections, the brick plinth of which extends just above ground level for the single-light panes. In the south-west is a brick well.

The kitchen garden with forcing houses in the park of the historic estate Nijenrode is of general importance because of its garden-architectural value as a well-preserved example of a kitchen garden with its associated built components; as well as because of its cultural-historical value as a reminder of the functional arrangement of the historic estate; as well as because of the historic-functional relationship with other sub-gardens located in the park such as the landscape garden, the deer park and the rose garden. The garden has ensemble value because of the spatial-functional relationship with the built objects belonging to the garden.
