Inleiding
Ter plaatse van de tuinmuur en gedeeltelijk in de nutstuin voorkomende STOOKKELDER met SCHOORSTEEN, als onderdeel van de buitenplaats Nijenrode.
De buitenplaats heeft zijn oorsprong in een 13de eeuws kasteel. Belangrijke uitbreidingen en restauraties hebben zich onder meer in de 17de eeuw voorgedaan onder Johan I Ortt, die ook de opdracht gaf voor de aanleg van een formele tuin. Vanaf 1907 was de buitenplaats in het bezit van de Amsterdamse koffiehandelaar Michiel Onnes. Hij liet het kasteel onder leiding van architect E.G. Wentinck herstellen naar een 17de eeuwse situatie en voegde enkele bijgebouwen toe. De tuinarchitecten L.A. Springer en H. Copijn waren verantwoordelijk voor de tussen 1912-1915 tot Landschappelijke tuin omgevormde aanleg met een gemengd karakter. Thans zetelt Nijenrode Universiteit voor Bedrijfskunde in het kasteel en is met de aankoop van grond in de richting van het Amsterdam Rijnkanaal het grondgebied van de buitenplaats opnieuw vergroot.
Omschrijving
De stookkelder met schoorsteen is in de noordelijke hoek gesitueerd van de noordoostelijk in het park gelegen nutstuin. De kelder bevindt zich gedeeltelijk onder de west-oost georiënteerde tuinmuur, die de nutstuin omsluit. De rechthoekige ingang met gemetselde trap bevindt zich aan de zijde van de nutstuin, terwijl de ontluchtingsopeningen zich buiten de nutstuin bevinden.
Eveneens ten noorden van de tuinmuur van de nutstuin bevindt zich de gemetselde schoorsteen met ronde schacht.
Waardering

The country estate has its origins in a 13th century castle.
