Inleiding.
Het BEELD van St. Martinus van omstreeks 1853 is verhoogd gelegen en vormt de noordelijke afsluiting van de dwarsarm in de kerhofaanleg. In de oorspronkelijke opzet vormde het de pendant van het St. Odabeeld, dat nu achter de kerhofkapel staat opgesteld.
Omschrijving.
Het meer dan levensgrote Martinusbeeld is vervaardigd van zandsteen en is geplaatst op een hardstenen sokkel met reliëf. De staande en bebaarde St. Martinus is verbeeld als bisschop met bisschopsstaf en mijter en is gehuld in geplooid gewaad. Het reliëf in de sokkel verbeeldt St. Martinus als te paard gezeten krijgsman, die zijn mantel in tweeën snijdt voor de op de grond geknielde bedelaar met ontbloot bovenlijf. Op de achtergrond de contouren van de stadspoort van Amiens.
Waardering.
