Inleiding.
De BEGRAAFPLAATSAANLEG dateert uit 1853, maar de beplanting is in later tijd vervangen. Onbekend is of de soort beplanting in de loop der tijd is gewijzigd.
Omschrijving.
De begraafplaats heeft een symmetrische aanleg met een op het oosten gericht kruisvormig padenpatroon. De hoofdas loopt van de entree in het westen naar de calvarieberg in het oosten. De dwarsarm loopt van de kapel in het zuiden tot het Martinusbeeld in het noorden. Ten oosten van de dwarsarm zijn beukenbomen geplant, alsook om het Martinusbeeld en achter de calvarieberg. Om de kapel zijn coniferen geplant. Aan weerszijde van de hoofdas zijn bolacacia's geplant alsook aan de westzijde van dwarsarm. Bij de toegangspoort is een treurwilg geplant.
Waardering.
De begraafplaatsaanleg is van algemeen belang en vormt het samenbindend element van het complex. The CEMETERY LAYOUT dates from 1853, but the planting has been replaced at a later date. It is unknown whether the type of planting has changed over time.
Description.
The cemetery has a symmetrical layout with a cruciform path pattern oriented to the east. The main axis runs from the entrance in the west to the Calvary hill in the east. The transverse arm runs from the chapel in the south to the Martinus statue in the north. East of the transverse arm beech trees have been planted, as well as around the Martinus statue and behind the Calvary hill. Conifers have been planted around the chapel. On either side of the main axis honey locusts have been planted as well as on the west side of the transverse arm. At the entrance gate a weeping willow has been planted.
Valuation.
The cemetery layout is of general interest and forms the binding element of the complex. It has cultural-historical value as a good example of Catholic cemetery layout in the nineteenth century, because of the symmetry and the applied planting. It is preserved in good condition and complete and as such rare.
