Omschrijving
Omschrijving onderdeel 2: PARKAANLEG.
De parkaanleg bestaat uit a. oprijlaan, b. huiseiland, c. voormalige moestuin en d. bos en weilanden. Ad a.: de oprijlaan, aangelegd in ong. 1825, loopt vanaf de Binnenweg in noordoostelijke richting tot op het voorplein ten oosten van de gracht; puinverharding met enkele rijen eiken in driehoeksverband; het voorplein heeft een nieuwe inrichting; er staat hier nog een monumentale rode beuk. Ad b.: het gedeelte binnen de walmuur (zie onder 5) heeft een nieuwe inrichting; buiten de walmuur zijn stroken aanaarding met natuurlijke vegetatie, behalve aan de zuidzijde, waar de oudste delen van de muur zijn; hier is de grondstrook breder en er zijn sporen van een kleine nutstuin met leifruit tegen de buitenkant van de walmuur. Ad c.: de voormalige moestuin (nu een opgehoogd grasveld met jonge fruitbomen) op vierkante plattegrond ligt op de plaats van de voorburcht, die in de 19e eeuw afgebroken is; er ligt een sloot (smalle gracht) omheen, die via een duiker (zie onder 7) met de gracht verbonden is; in de zuidoosthoek van het terrein staat een 19e eeuwse koepel (zie onder 6). Ad d.: ten zuidwesten van het huis ligt een drassig loofhoutbos, in oorsprong wellicht uit de bouwtijd van het huis, met voornamelijk eik, es en els; het is vanouds een hakhoutbos met overstaanders (eik); het rabattenpatroon is nog aanwezig; er is geen padenstelsel te ontdekken; de weilanden liggen ten noorden en noordwesten van het huis.

De PARKAANLEG is van algemeen belang:

Description component 2: PARK LAYOUT.
The park layout consists of a. drive, b. house island, c. former kitchen garden and d. woodland and meadows. Ad a.: the drive, laid out around 1825, runs from the Binnenweg in a north-easterly direction to the forecourt to the east of the moat; gravel surface with several rows of oak trees in triangular arrangement; the forecourt has a new layout; there still stands here a monumental red beech. Ad b.: the section within the rampart wall (see under 5) has a new layout; outside the rampart wall are strips of soil accumulation with natural vegetation, except on the south side, where the oldest parts of the wall are; here the ground strip is wider and there are traces of a small utility garden with espalier fruit trees against the outer side of the rampart wall. Ad c.: the former kitchen garden (now a raised grass field with young fruit trees) on a square footprint lies on the site of the outwork, which was demolished in the 19th century; a small watercourse (narrow moat) surrounds it, connected via a culvert (see under 7) with the moat; in the south-east corner of the site stands a 19th-century pavilion (see under 6). Ad d.: to the south-west of the house lies a boggy deciduous woodland, originally perhaps from the period of construction of the house, with mainly oak, ash and alder; it has traditionally been a coppice woodland with standards (oak); the planting pattern is still present; no path system can be discerned; the meadows lie to the north and north-west of the house.
