HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT belonging to the country estate De Nederhorst. The house De Nederhorst, situated within a square moat, lies within a formally laid out arrangement originally from the seventeenth/eighteenth century, which still largely corresponds with the design drawing from circa 1700 by Staden. From Slotlaan and Reevaart, which was dug in 1600 (in 1971 filled in and paved, Nieuwe Overeemseweg), runs a diagonal approach avenue oriented on the axis of the house, flanked by double rows of trees (oak and linden) and a ditch. On either side of the avenue lie two rectangular parterres surrounded by ditches, now meadows/woodland. The avenue ends at a spacious square forecourt and originally continued on the rear side of the house (main axis). From the house, the avenue functions as a sight line. Oblique to the main axis runs a straight cross avenue coming from the village, which served as a side entrance.
