Inleiding.
KAPEL gesticht in 1939, ter herdenking van van het feit dat Carol Schade, bewoner van de villa De Hooge Braaken, Stokeind 14, een auto-ongeluk had overleefd. De kapel werd opgetrokken in Traditionalistische stijl en na de Tweede Wereldoorlog toegewijd aan O.L. Vrouw van de Vrede.
Omschrijving.
Eenvoudige, eenbeukige kapel met halfrond gesloten absis, opgetrokken in baksteen en gewit. Zadeldak met schilden die de ronding van de absis volgen. Dakruiter met zadeldakje. De kapel maakt deel uit van de bakstenen entreepoort met ezelsrugmuur van het landgoed De Hooge Braaken. De voorgevel is een tuitgevel met uitkragende aanzetstukken en makelaar met kruis in top. Rondboogingang met smeedijzeren hek, waarboven rondvenster en de tekst Ave Maria. Rechts van de ingang een gevelsteen met de tekst: 'Deze kapel werd/ gesticht in het jaar/ onzes Heeren 1939/ en op 8 december/ toegewijd aan O.L. Vrouw'. Rechthoekig schip met rechts van de kapel een dienstaanbouw onder een doorgetrokken dakschild met schildeinde. Deze aanbouw gaat aan de achterzijde over in de lage, ronde absismuur met een tweetal rondboogvensters. Aan de linkerzijde ontbreekt deze aanbouw.
Inwendig heeft de kapel een ietwat ongebruikelijke T-vormige plattegrond, waarbij de absis breder is dan het schip. Rode plavuizen vloer. Open bekapping.
Waardering.
De kapel is van algemeen belang. Zij heeft cultuurhistorische waarden als herinnering aan de in Noord-Brabant populaire Mariadevotie en is typologisch van belang vanwege de bijzondere plattegrond. Zij is van architectuurhistorisch belang, vanwege de toepassing van traditionalistische vormen. Zij is een zeldzaam voorbeeld van een particuliere stichting, ter herinnering aan een auto-ongeluk.

Description.
Simple, single-aisled chapel with semi-circular closed apse, constructed in brick and whitewashed. Gabled roof with hips following the curve of the apse. Roof turret with small gabled roof. The chapel is part of the brick entrance gate with moulded-top wall of the estate De Hooge Braaken. The front facade is a spout gable with projecting base pieces and weathered top with cross at the apex. Round-arched entrance with wrought-iron gate, above which a round window and the text Ave Maria. To the right of the entrance a facade stone with the text: 'This chapel was/ founded in the year/ of our Lord 1939/ and on 8 December/ dedicated to Our Lady'. Rectangular nave with to the right of the chapel a service annex under a continuous hipped roof with hipped end. This annex passes on the rear side into the low, round apse wall with two round-arched windows. On the left side this annex is absent.
Internally the chapel has a somewhat unusual T-shaped floor plan, whereby the apse is wider than the nave. Red tiled floor. Open timber structure.
Valuation.
The chapel is of general importance. It has cultural-historical values as a reminder of the Marian devotion popular in North Brabant and is typologically significant because of the unusual floor plan. It is of architectural-historical importance, because of the application of traditionalist forms. It is a rare example of a private foundation, commemorating a car accident.
