Inleiding
Op de aan de oostelijke zijde van de Nieuwstraat gelegen, in 1828 door de gemeente aangelegde en in 1907 en 1908 in een hervormd en katholiek gedeelte gesplitste begraafplaats bevindt zich de uit 1870 daterende kunstmatige GRAFHEUVEL voor F.J.J. Deblocc van Scheltinga. Deze is gelegen in de zuidwestelijke hoek, op het Protestantse gedeelte van de begraafplaats en vertoont in de romantische opzet invloeden van neogotiek.
Omschrijving
De grafheuvel is een, relatief klein, bouwlichaam op een ruwweg rechthoekige plattegrond (circa 5 bij 3 meter) en heeft licht aflopende wanden. De grafheuvel is opgebouwd uit een kern van baksteen, voorzien van een gecementeerde buitenlaag die door middel van fragmenten oud bouwpuin van een rotsachtig uiterlijk is voorzien. Met uitzondering van de natuurstenen zerk aan de westzijde is de gehele grafheuvel overwoekerd door een weelderige vegetatie. De natuurstenen zerk is voorzien van een inscriptie: "begraafplaats F.J.J. Deblocc van Scheltinga anno 1870". Aan de bovenzijde bevinden zich twee kleine ijzeren ringen.
Waardering
De kunstmatige grafheuvel is van algemeen belang. De grafheuvel heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van de typologische ontwikkeling van het grafmonument met imitatie-rotsen. De grafheuvel heeft architectuurhistorische waarde als in Nederland zeldzame representant van een meer op de Engelse romantiek gerichte interpretatie van de neogotiek. De grafheuvel is gaaf bewaard gebleven en is uiterst zeldzaam.

Introduction
On the cemetery situated on the eastern side of Nieuwstraat, laid out by the municipality in 1828 and divided into a reformed and a Catholic section in 1907 and 1908, there is an artificial BURIAL MOUND dating from 1870 for F.J.J. Deblocc van Scheltinga. It is located in the southwestern corner, on the Protestant section of the cemetery and displays influences of neo-gothic in its romantic composition.
Description
The burial mound is a relatively small structure on a roughly rectangular plan (approximately 5 by 3 metres) and has gently sloping walls. The burial mound is constructed from a core of brick, provided with a cemented outer layer that is furnished with fragments of old building rubble of a rocky appearance. With the exception of the natural stone gravestone on the west side, the entire burial mound is overgrown with luxuriant vegetation. The natural stone gravestone bears an inscription: "cemetery F.J.J. Deblocc van Scheltinga anno 1870". Two small iron rings are located on the upper side.

The artificial burial mound is of general importance.
