De HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG (2) behorende bij de buitenplaats Stania State, is een ontwerp van Lucas Pieters Roodbaard (1782-1851) in opdracht van J.H. Boelens en bevat drie hoofdelementen die in historisch en ontwerpkunstig opzicht onderling nauw met elkaar zijn verbonden. Aan de entree- of westzijde een voortuin met slingerende veelarmige vijver voorzien van een eiland met een kunstmatige heuvel die excentrisch ten opzichte van het hoofdgebouw is opgeworpen zodat een open uitzicht over de vijvers van en naar het hoofdgebouw mogelijk is. Het tweede geledend element van de aanleg betreft het huis met enkele kleinere opstallen. Ten derde is er de achtertuin met grote vijver en twee open plekken. Over de grote vijver lopen vanaf een "kaap" twee zichtassen: één in noordwestelijke richting naar de boerderij en één in noordoostelijke richting naar de kratervijver. Tussen het huis en een kleine, ovale vijver in de achtertuin loopt ook een as, zijnde een restant van de formele aanleg van Knoop. Voor het bordes van het hoofdgebouw een bol, rond bloembed. Vanuit het huis zijn drie assen te herkennen: één in noordwestelijke richting (naar de vijverlob), één in westelijke richting (naar de kunstmatige heuvel met uitzichtpunt in de vijver) en één in zuidwestelijke richting (naar een driesprong van paden). Voor het overige wordt de structuur van de aanleg bepaald door (slinger)paden en de op elkaar aansluitende vijvers (aan de zuidkant van het huis, op de plaats van de voormalige rechthoekige gracht die om het huis heenliep, zodat de verbinding hier een soort lus vormt). In de achtertuin biedt de vijver met ringheuvel of kratervijver een opvallend motief. Op markante punten zijn bruggetjes (van boomstammetjes) aangebracht. Aan de oevers van de vijvers staan treurbeuken. De aanleg wordt verder gekenmerkt door hoogteverschillen, o.a. in de zuidoostelijke hoek, bij de kratervijver, achter het huis en halverwege aan de zuidzijde, met uitzicht over weide. De beplanting van de paden bestaat veelal uit eiken.
Waardering
De HISTORISCHE TUIN- EN PARKAANLEG behorende bij de buitenplaats Stania State vertegenwoordigt algemeen belang omdat:
- de tuinaanleg een typische Roodbaard-plattegrond is met fraaie uitzichten, slingerpaden, een veelarmige waterpartij, reliëfwerking, een kratervijver, een drie-armige brug en perken in boon- en ellipsvorm terwijl de romantische sfeer van de aanleg nog wordt versterkt door treurbeuken op markante plaatsen;
- in Roodbaards aanleg karakteristieke elementen van de oudere, formele tuin van J.H. Knoop behouden bleven: de zichtas in de achtertuin en een deel van de oude gracht in de vijverpartij;
- tuinhistorisch belang besloten ligt in de goed bewaarde aanleg in welk verband de behouden gebleven ontwerptekeningen van Roodbaard in kunsthistorisch opzicht zeldzaamheidswaarde bezitten;
- de gaafheid van structuur en samenstellende elementen;
- een functioneel-ruimtelijke relatie met de andere onderdelen van de historische buitenplaats bestaat.

The HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT (2) belonging to the country estate Stania State, is a design by Lucas Pieters Roodbaard (1782-1851) commissioned by J.H. Boelens and contains three main elements that are closely interconnected in historical and design terms. On the entrance or west side a forecourt with a winding multi-armed pond provided with an island with an artificial mound which is positioned eccentrically in relation to the main building so that an open view over the ponds to and from the main building is possible. The second articulated element of the layout concerns the house with some smaller outbuildings. Third, there is the rear garden with large pond and two open spaces. Over the large pond run from a "cape" two sight lines: one in a northwesterly direction towards the farmstead and one in a northeasterly direction towards the crater pond. Between the house and a small, oval pond in the rear garden also runs an axis, being a remnant of the formal layout by Knoop. In front of the portico of the main building a round, circular flower bed. From the house three axes can be recognised: one in a northwesterly direction (towards the pond lobe), one in a westerly direction (towards the artificial mound with viewpoint in the pond) and one in a southwesterly direction (towards a three-way intersection of paths). For the rest the structure of the layout is determined by (winding) paths and the adjoining ponds (on the south side of the house, in the place of the former rectangular ditch that ran around the house, so that the connection here forms a kind of loop). In the rear garden the pond with ring mound or crater pond offers a striking motif. At prominent points small bridges (made of tree trunks) are placed. On the banks of the ponds stand weeping beeches. The layout is further characterised by differences in height, amongst others in the southeastern corner, at the crater pond, behind the house and halfway along the south side, with a view over meadow. The planting of the paths consists largely of oaks.
Valuation
The HISTORIC GARDEN AND PARK LAYOUT belonging to the country estate Stania State represents general interest because:
- the garden layout is a typical Roodbaard plan with fine views, winding paths, a multi-armed water feature, relief work, a crater pond, a three-armed bridge and beds in bean and ellipse form while the romantic atmosphere of the layout is further enhanced by weeping beeches at prominent locations;
- in Roodbaard's layout characteristic elements of the older, formal garden by J.H. Knoop were retained: the sight line in the rear garden and part of the old ditch in the pond feature;
- garden-historical significance lies in the well-preserved layout in connection with which the retained design drawings by Roodbaard possess rarity value in art-historical terms;
- the integrity of structure and constituent elements;
- a functional-spatial relationship with the other components of the historic country estate exists.
