Inleiding
Vrijstaande voormalige KRUIDENIERSWINKEL annex WOONHUIS met SCHUURTJE, in de kern daterend uit ca. 1850, en verbouwd ca. 1890. Het pand is gelegen aan de westzijde van de noord-zuid lopende Kerkstraat. Het pand werd gebouwd rond het midden van de 19de eeuw en had toen één bouwlaag. Aan het eind van de 19de eeuw werd de verdieping toegevoegd en werden waarschijnlijk de winkelpuien en de detailleringen met speklagen en boogvelden aangebracht. Het pand is van 1854 tot 1972 in gebruik geweest als kruidenierswinkel. De laat 19de eeuwse toevoegingen zijn uitgevoerd in een voor die tijd karakteristieke trant met rijke Neo-Renaissance elementen. Het huis heeft een smalle voortuin en een tuin aan de rechter- en achterzijde. Aan de straat bevindt zich een ijzeren spijlenhek.
Omschrijving
Het pand in zijn huidige vorm heeft een T-vormige plattegrond. Het dwarsgeplaatste voorhuis heeft twee bouwlagen en is gedekt met een schilddak met gesmoorde kruispannen. Het éénlaags achterhuis heeft een afgeplat schilddak en is met gesmoorde oud hollandse èn met gesmoorde kruispannen gedekt. Het voorhuis heeft op het voorschild een dakkapel met een uitstekend topgeveltje op schoren. De wangen van de kapel zijn voorzien van leien. Alle gevels zijn gemetseld in kruisverband. Het pand heeft een omlopende gepleisterde plint en een het voorhuis heeft een baksteenfries met rode verblendsteen en een muizetandlijst. De omlopende kroonlijst wordt ter plaatse van de voor- en beide zijgevels ondersteund door baksteenconsoles. Ter hoogte van de onder-, tussen- en bovendorpels van de vensters zijn gepleisterde witte speklagen aangebracht.
De VOORGEVEL van het rijk gedetailleerde voorhuis heeft op de verdieping drie recht afgesloten T-schuiframen met bovenlichten, waarvan twee met kathedraalglasvulling. De ramen hebben persiennes en zijn aan de bovenzijde ieder afgesloten met een driezijdige boog uit rode en zwarte verblendsteen met witgepleisterde wigvormige tussenstenen. De bogen hebben een gepleisterde waterlijst en hebben in boogvelden een vulling met tweekleurige tegels waarop driepas- en bladmotieven. De geprofileerde geboortestenen zijn voorzien van een rozet.
Op de begane grond bevindt zich links een T-schuifraam met dezelfde decoratieve omlijsting. Rechts hiervan bevindt zich het winkelgedeelte met een groot etalageraam met daarnaast een deur met diamantkoppen en glasvulling in een kozijn met vast en geprofileerd kalf en een bovenlicht. De opmerkelijke omlijstingen van het etalageraam en de deur worden gevormd door een brede opliggende band die bestaat uit elkaar afwisselende bak- en geglazuurde stenen èn hardstenen blokken, allen met een kwartholprofilering. Dit raamwerk heeft een binnenrand die gevormd wordt door bruin geglazuurde profielstenen. Hierbinnen bevindt zich het houten kozijn dat aan de bovenzijde wordt afgesloten met een horizontale band met gekleurde tegels. Aan de onderzijde heeft het etalageraam een hardstenen vensterdorpel met daar weer onder een in een bruin geglazuurde profielsteenomlijsting gevatte tegelband. De winkelpui- omlijstingen worden bekroond met een crête-achtige lijst en een tweetal gepleisterde leeuwekoppen op de hoeken.
De LINKER ZIJGEVEL is niet zo uitbundig gedecoreerd als de overige gevels. Het voorhuis heeft op de verdieping een klein 4-ruits stolpraam. De begane grond heeft een 4-ruits schuifraam met een moderne rolluikbak. Links daarvan bevindt zich in de gevel van het achterhuis een 6-ruits schuifraam met luiken en een anderhalf steens strek. In de plint is een keldervenster aangebracht. De gepleisterde speklagen zetten zich niet door in de achterhuisgevel.
De zichtbare ACHTERGEVEL van het voorhuis is blind. Het achterhuis heeft aan de linkerzijde een éénlaags aanbouw met een vernieuwde dubbele tuindeur met glasvulling, bovenlicht en anderhalf steens strek. Daarboven bevindt zich in de gevel van het achterhuis een niet oorspronkelijke de daklijst doorsnijdende dakkapel met balkondeur. Hiernaast is in het dakschild een tweede dakkapel aangebracht. Rechts van de tuindeur een klein 2-ruits raam en een deur met een 2-ruits bovenlicht waarvoor zich een houten aanbouwtje bevindt dat is verbonden met het achterliggende schuurgedeelte. Geheel rechts een dubbele tuindeur met een tweedelig bovenlicht en een strek.
De RECHTER ZIJGEVEL van het voorhuis heeft op de begane grond één omlijst etalageraam als genoemd bij de voorgevel. Rechts hiervan en erboven bevindt zich een T-schuifraam als genoemd bij de voorgevel. Het rechterraam heeft in tegenstelling tot de overige schuiframen luiken in plaats van persiennes. In de plint bevindt zich een kelderlicht.
De speklagen van het voorhuis zetten zich door in het achterhuis- gedeelte. De achterhuisgevel heeft een dubbele tuindeur met 2-ruits bovenlicht, anderhalf steens strek en persiennes. Daarnaast een T-schuifraam met 2-ruits bovenlicht, anderhalf steens strek en persiennes.
Het bijzondere INTERIEUR van het pand is vrij gaaf bewaard bewaard gebleven. Het belangrijkste bewaard gebleven deel hiervan wordt gevormd door de nog vrijwel complete winkelinventaris met o.a. wandstellingen en voorraadbakken. Van de winkelinventaris vallen de toonbanken buiten de bescherming. De plafonds van de winkelruimte zijn voorzien van sjabloonschilderingen.
Achter het huis bevindt zich een in kruisverband gemetseld SCHUURTJE met zadeldak, belegd met gesmoorde hollandse pannen. In de gedeeltelijk in de loop der tijd vernieuwde gevels bevinden zich onder andere een originele houten deur met anderhalf steens strek, halfronde stalvensters me V-vormige tracering en ronde vensters met bloemvormige tracering. De korte gevels zijn voorzien van een houten windveer. Tegen de achtergevel bevindt zich een lager gedeelte, eveneens met een zadeldak met gesmoorde oud hollandse pannen, een deur en een halfrond venster. De schuur is middels een doorgetrokken muur met het achterhuis verbonden.

Architectuurhistorische waarden:
- Het pand is van belang vanwege de hoogwaardige esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp zoals dit tot uitdrukking komt in de (gaaf bewaarde) hoofdvorm, de detaillering en het materiaalgebruik. Het door bijzondere T-vormige plattegrond gekenmerkte pand had oorspronkelijk één bouwlaag en werd aan het einde van de 19de eeuw verbouwd.

Detached former GROCERY SHOP and DWELLING with SHED, in core dating from around 1850, and rebuilt around 1890. The property is located on the west side of the north-south running Kerkstraat. The property was built around the middle of the 19th century and at that time had one storey. At the end of the 19th century the first floor was added and the shop fronts and detailings with spandrels and spandrel panels were probably installed. The property was in use as a grocery shop from 1854 to 1972. The late 19th century additions were executed in a manner characteristic of that period with rich Neo-Renaissance elements. Description
The property in its current form has a T-shaped ground plan. The transversely placed front house has two storeys and is covered with a hipped roof with suppressed ridge tiles. The single-storey rear house has a half-hipped roof and is covered with suppressed Dutch tiles and with suppressed ridge tiles. The front house has on the front slope a roof dormer with a protruding small stepped gable on corbels. The sides of the dormer are provided with slates. All facades are laid in Flemish bond. The property has a continuous rendered plinth and the front house has a brick frieze with red facing brick and a dog-tooth moulding. The continuous cornice is supported at the level of the fore, side and both side facades by brick corbels. At the height of the under-, inter- and upper window sills white rendered spandrels are provided.
The FRONT FACADE of the richly detailed front house has on the first floor three straight-topped T-sash windows with fanlights, two of which with cathedral glass filling. The windows have venetian blinds and are each closed at the top with a three-sided arch of red and black facing brick with white rendered wedge-shaped intermedia. The arches have a rendered drip moulding and have in the spandrel panels a filling with two-coloured tiles with trefoil and leaf motifs. The profiled birth stones are provided with a rosette.
On the ground floor on the left is a T-sash window with the same decorative surround. To the right of it is the shop section with a large display window with next to it a door with diamond-head studs and glass filling in a frame with fixed and profiled calf and a fanlight. The remarkable surrounds of the display window and the door are formed by a wide overlaid band consisting of alternating brick and glazed tiles and hardstone blocks, all with a quarter-round profile. This framework has an inner edge formed by brown glazed profile stones. Within it is the wooden frame which is closed at the top with a horizontal band with coloured tiles. At the bottom the display window has a hardstone window sill with underneath it a tile band set in brown glazed profile stone surround. The shop front surrounds are crowned with a crest-like moulding and a pair of rendered lion heads on the corners.
The LEFT SIDE FACADE is not as ornately decorated as the other facades. The front house has on the first floor a small 4-pane hinged window. The ground floor has a 4-pane sash window with a modern roller shutter box. To the left of it there is in the facade of the rear house a 6-pane sash window with shutters and one-and-a-half brick stretcher. In the plinth is a cellar window. The rendered spandrels do not continue into the rear house facade.
The visible REAR FACADE of the front house is blank. The rear house has on the left side a single-storey extension with a renewed double garden door with glass filling, fanlight and one-and-a-half brick stretcher. Above it there is in the facade of the rear house a non-original roof dormer cutting through the eaves line with a balcony door. Next to it a second roof dormer is in the roof slope. To the right of the garden door a small 2-pane window and a door with a 2-pane fanlight in front of which there is a small wooden addition connected to the shed section behind. Far right a double garden door with a two-part fanlight and a stretcher.
The RIGHT SIDE FACADE of the front house has on the ground floor one surrounded display window as mentioned at the front facade. To the right of it and above it is a T-sash window as mentioned at the front facade. In contrast to the other sash windows the right window has shutters instead of venetian blinds. In the plinth is a cellar light.
The spandrels of the front house continue into the rear house section. The rear house facade has a double garden door with 2-pane fanlight, one-and-a-half brick stretcher and venetian blinds. Next to it a T-sash window with 2-pane fanlight, one-and-a-half brick stretcher and venetian blinds.
The special INTERIOR of the property is preserved in fairly good condition. The most important preserved part of it is formed by the still virtually complete shop inventory including wall shelves and storage bins. The shop counters are excluded from the protection of the shop inventory. The ceilings of the shop space are provided with stencil paintings.
Behind the house there is a SHED laid in Flemish bond with a gabled roof, covered with suppressed Dutch tiles. In the facades partly renewed over time there are among other things an original wooden door with one-and-a-half brick stretcher, half-round stable windows with V-shaped tracery and round windows with flower-shaped tracery. The short gables are provided with a wooden weathervane. Against the rear facade there is a lower section, also with a gabled roof with suppressed Dutch tiles, a door and a half-round window. The shed is connected to the rear house by a continuous wall.
