Description

Old Dutch Reformed Church. Single-aisle Romanesque church (12th century) with tufa stone walls, containing round-arch windows. Tufa stone tower (first half of 12th century) decorated with lesenes and arch friezes, heightened with a Gothic bell storey and slender tapered spire (17th century). The slightly narrower Gothic choir, demolished when the church was put out of use in 1841, at the restoration 1948-1950 rebuilt in simple rectangular form. On the north side brick chapel (first half of 16th century) with net vault. The church possesses a sandstone epitaph (1616) for Joseph van Arnhem, son of the landrentmeester Paul van Arnhem, who lived at Nederhagen.
