Omschrijving
HISTORISCHE TUINAANLEG bij landhuis St. Joseph (Arva). Het ten opzichte van zijn omgeving iets hoger gelegen landhuis wordt omringd door een tuin in de Nieuwe Architectonische tuinstijl met uitzondering van het achterste deel van de tuin dat een bosachtig karakter heeft. Kenmerkend voor deze stijl zijn o.a. de toepassing van zichtassen, symmetrie en niveauverschillen waarbij diverse verdiept of juist hoger gelegen delen d.m.v. trapjes verbonden worden. Deze kenmerken zijn met name terug te vinden in het deel van de tuin dat ter linkerzijde en achter het huis gelegen is. Links van het huis bevindt zich een iets verdiept gelegen grasperk omgeven door paden en beplant met coniferen en rozenperken. Voor het huis bevindt zich een ruime halfronde oprijlaan. De tuin wordt ter hoogte van de voor- en zijgevels van de weg gescheiden door een ligusterhaag.

Description
HISTORIC GARDEN LAYOUT at country house St. Joseph (Arva). The country house, situated slightly higher than its surroundings, is surrounded by a garden in the New Architectural garden style with the exception of the rear part of the garden which has a wooded character. Characteristic of this style are, among other things, the use of sight lines, symmetry and level differences whereby various sunken or raised sections are connected by means of steps. These characteristics are found particularly in the part of the garden situated to the left of and behind the house. To the left of the house is a slightly sunken lawn surrounded by paths and planted with conifers and rose beds. In front of the house is a spacious semicircular drive. The garden is separated from the road at the level of the front and side facades by a privet hedge.
