Inleiding.
BEELDENGROEP op voetstuk voorstellende het Heilig Hart van Jezus met boer en boerin met kind daterend uit 1936 en 1940.
De beeldengroep, gemaakt in het atelier van A. de Beule te Gent, staat aan de St. Bavostraat midden in het dorp in een parkachtige aanleg, op de plaats waar tot 1919 de laat-middeleeuwse toren van de oude St. Bavokerk stond.
Omschrijving.
De drie bronzen beelden zijn gemaakt door beeldhouwer Aloys de Beule uit Gent, in opdracht van het R.K. kerkbestuur St. Bavo. Het H. Hartbeeld werd in 1936 geplaatst, de boer en boerin met kind in 1940. De beelden staan op een rotspartij van imitatiesteen vervaardigd door Frans Janssens uit Westmeerbeek. Het H. Hartbeeld vormt, staande op het hoogste rotsblok het middelpunt van de groep en strekt zegenend de handen uit naar de aan de linkerzijde staande boer, in werkkleding met schop en de rechts knielende boerin met kind op arm.
Waardering.
De beeldengroep is van algemeen belang. Het geheel heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling van de katholieke devotionele cultuur, het is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van het H. Hartmonument. Het heeft kunsthistorisch belang als voorbeeld van het werk van het atelier De Beule en is tevens van belang voor de technische ontwikkeling van het gieten van beelden in brons. Het is gaaf bewaard gebleven en typologisch zeldzaam.

GROUP OF SCULPTURES on a pedestal depicting the Sacred Heart of Jesus with a farmer and farmer's wife with child dating from 1936 and 1940.
The group of sculptures, made in the workshop of A. de Beule in Ghent, stands on St. Bavostraat in the middle of the village in a park-like setting, at the location where until 1919 the late-medieval tower of the old St. Bavokerk stood.
Description.
The three bronze sculptures were made by sculptor Aloys de Beule from Ghent, commissioned by the R.K. church board St. Bavo. The Sacred Heart sculpture was placed in 1936, the farmer and farmer's wife with child in 1940. The sculptures stand on a rock formation made of imitation stone manufactured by Frans Janssens from Westmeerbeek. The Sacred Heart sculpture, standing on the highest rock block, forms the centrepiece of the group and extends blessing hands towards the farmer standing on the left side, in working clothes with a spade, and the farmer's wife kneeling on the right with a child in her arms.

The group of sculptures is of public importance. The whole has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of a social and spiritual development, in particular the development of Catholic devotional culture, and is also of significance for the typological development of the Sacred Heart monument.
