Inleiding
Aan de westelijke zijde van de Nieuwstraat staat, met de rooilijn direct aan de straat, een eenvoudig vrijstaand WOONHUIS in ambachtelijk-traditionele stijl, in de huidige vorm daterend uit de tweede helft van de negentiende eeuw, maar met een oudere kern, die wellicht tot de zeventiende eeuw teruggaat.
Omschrijving
Het huis heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond, één bouwlaag en een schilddak met twee schoorstenen en oud Hollandse pannen, dat aan de achterzijde lager is aangezet. De van grote steekankers voorziene voorgevel van het pand is in blokverband gepleisterd en heeft een vijfassige, symmetrische opzet met een centrale topgevel. De paneeldeur met gedeeld bovenlicht heeft bronzen handgrepen en wordt geflankeerd door twee maal twee zesruits schuifvensters. De gevel wordt afgesloten door een geprofileerde houten lijstgoot en heeft een centrale topgevel met gepleisterd fronton. In deze topgevel is een zesruits schuifvenster met geknikte wenkbrauwboog.
De handvorm bakstenen zijgevels hebben vlechtingen aan de achterzijde. In de zuidelijke zijgevel is een paneeldeur met gedeeld bovenlicht, een vijfendertigruits schuifvenster en op de verdieping twee kleine openslaande lichten. De noordelijke gevel heeft naast een zesruits schuifvenster op de etage een vernieuwd bolkozijn.
Waardering
Het woonhuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, namelijk de stichting van grote dorpswoningen in het bestaande historische weefsel; het is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van het dorpswoonhuis, waarbij de gevel in de negentiende eeuw aan een nieuwe mode is aangepast. Het maakt deel uit van een reeks dorpswoningen die in Oirschot vanaf de zeventiende eeuw aanwijsbaar is. Het huis heeft ensemblewaarde als onderdeel van een karakteristieke reeks dorpshuizen in de oude kern van Oirschot. Het is van belang vanwege de architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur. On the western side of Nieuwstraat stands, with the building line directly on the street, a simple detached DWELLING HOUSE in craft-traditional style, in its present form dating from the second half of the nineteenth century, but with an older core, which may well go back to the seventeenth century.
Description
The house has a rectangular floor plan, one storey and a hipped roof with two chimneys and old Dutch tiles, which is set lower at the rear. The front facade of the property, furnished with large wall anchors, is rendered in English bond and has a five-bay, symmetrical arrangement with a central gable. The panelled door with divided fanlight has bronze handles and is flanked by two pairs of six-pane sash windows. The facade is finished with a profiled wooden moulding gutter and has a central gable with rendered pediment. In this gable is a six-pane sash window with a curved eyebrow arch.
The handmade brick side facades have basket-weave brickwork at the rear. In the southern side facade is a panelled door with divided fanlight, a thirty-five-pane sash window and on the storey two small opening casements. The northern facade has next to a six-pane sash window on the storey a renewed bulbous window frame.
Valuation
The dwelling house is of general importance. It has cultural-historical importance as a particular expression of a socio-economic development, namely the establishment of large village houses in the existing historic fabric; it is also of importance as an example of the typological development of the village dwelling house, whereby the facade was adapted to a new fashion in the nineteenth century. It forms part of a series of village houses that can be traced in Oirschot from the seventeenth century onwards. The house has ensemble value as part of a characteristic series of village houses in the old centre of Oirschot. It is important because of the architectural integrity of the exterior. It is important because of its architectural-historical, constructional and typological rarity, particularly because of the continuity of the building history.
