Inleiding
Direct achter het woonhuis is in 1899 een langwerpige FABRIEKSHAL gebouwd. Oorspronkelijk was nagenoeg de gehele meubelfabriek in dit pand gevestigd. Sinds de bouw van de nieuwe fabriek in 1917 (3) heeft deze fabriekshal als spuiterij gefungeerd. Het ontwerp is in eclectische stijl. In 1900 is een deel van dit gebouw afgebrand en waarschijnlijk vervangen door de buiten de bescherming vallende, sobere tweelaags aanbouw aan de zuidelijke zijde. Na de oorlog is tegen het uiterst noordelijke deel van de westelijke, aan het bedrijfsterrein grenzende gevel een kleine bakstenen aanbouw geplaatst, die eveneens buiten de bescherming valt.
Omschrijving
De fabriekshal bestaat uit één bouwlaag en een zolderverdieping, heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en wordt gedekt door een mansardedak met kruispannen, aan de westelijke zijde voorzien van een viertal rijk gedetailleerde, zinken oeuil-de-boeufs. De gevels zijn opgetrokken in baksteen en voorzien van een gecementeerde plint en een driedubbel gemetselde tandlijst. Van zuid naar noord is deze fabriekshal voorzien van een opgeklampte inrijpoort met driedelig bovenlicht, vijf zesruits schuifvensters en een voor de helft resterende, getoogde, opgeklampte inrijpoort. Tegen het dakschild is een tweetal kapellen met laadluiken geplaatst. De zuidelijke en noordelijke gevel van dit deel van gebouw (2) worden ingesloten door latere uitbreidingen. De achtergevel staat op de grens van het perceel en is, voor zover waarneembaar, blind.
Waardering
De fabriekshal is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling van de meubelnijverheid in de negentiende en twintigste eeuw en als staalkaart van de typologische ontwikkeling van de gebouwen voor de meubelindustrie tussen 1860 en 1920. Het is architectuurhistorisch van belang vanwege de stijl en de ornamentiek. Het heeft ensemblewaarde als onderdeel van een complex met uiteenlopende gebouwen, die de ontwikkeling van de meubelindustrie illustreren. Description
The factory hall consists of one storey and an attic storey, has a rectangular floor plan and is covered by a mansard roof with cross tiles, provided on the western side with four richly detailed zinc oeil-de-boeufs. The facades are constructed in brick and provided with a cemented plinth and a triple-course dentil course. From south to north this factory hall is provided with a clamped carriage door with three-part fanlight, five six-light sash windows and a half-remaining arched clamped carriage door. Against the roof slope two loading hatchways with shutters have been placed. The southern and northern facades of this part of the building (2) are enclosed by later extensions. The rear facade stands on the boundary of the plot and is, as far as can be observed, blind.
Valuation
The factory hall is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical significance as an example of the socio-economic development of the furniture industry in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and as a sample card of the typological development of buildings for the furniture industry between 1860 and 1920.
