Inleiding
VILLA, gebouwd in 1916 naar ontwerp van architect J. Cuypers, in opdracht van tabaksfabrikant B. Mignot, in Traditionalistische stijl met enige Engelse invloeden. Het pand ligt aan de Parklaan, nabij het centrum van Eindhoven, in een omgeving met meer (voormalige) fabrikantenvilla's.
Omschrijving
Tweelaags pand, gedeeltelijk onderkelderd, op een rechthoekige plattegrond, onder schilddak waarvan de nok evenwijdig aan de straat loopt. De voorgevel is zowel aan de linker- als aan de rechterkant van een risaliet met topgevel voorzien. Aan de linkerzijgevel bevindt zich een uitbouw onder zadeldak, parallel aan het schilddak. Deze uitbouw strekt zich gedeeltelijk uit achter het pand en heeft een inpandig balkon op verdiepingshoogte.
Het geheel is uitgevoerd in baksteen, de daken zijn voorzien van windveren en gedekt met verbeterde Hollandse pannen. De deur is in een gebogen gemetselde omlijsting geplaatst, deze omlijsting steekt iets uit en is tot aan de dakgoot doorgetrokken. In dit risaliet bevinden zich boven de deur een gevelsteen en daarboven een ovaal raam. Voor de deur is een klein bordes met trap aanwezig. De ramen zijn samengesteld waarbij in de bovenlichten een kleine roedenverdeling is aangebracht, de onderlichten zijn voorzien van luiken.
Aan de achterzijde van het huis bevindt zich een betegeld terras met trap naar de tuin. Boven de terrasdeuren is een gebogen luifel aangebracht. In de achtergevel is een natuurstenen gevelsteen zichtbaar met opschrift "B.MIGNOT/9MEI 1916".
Het interieur verkeert nagenoeg geheel in de oorspronkelijke staat. De hal en trappartij bevinden zich centraal in het pand. Rechts daarvan is een kamer-en-suite met schuifdeuren aanwezig. Ook in de overige vertrekken zijn elementen uit de inrichting zoals de lambrizeringen, vloeren en plafonds in oorspronkelijke staat bewaard gebleven.
Het pand wordt omgeven door een grote tuin met enkele bomen uit de bouwtijd. Aan de straatzijde wordt deze tuin begrensd door middel van een laag bakstenen muurtje en een ijzeren hek.
Het hek is tussen bakstenen pijlers geplaatst, in de pijlers is in natuurstenen plaquettes de naam van het pand "GRAN" "VILLE" aangebracht, de bekroning van de pijlers bestaat uit expressionistisch vormgegeven kapitelen. Aan de achterzijde is in de tuin een tennisbaan met huisje uit de bouwtijd en een later toegevoegde garage gebouwd. De garage blijft buiten bescherming.
Waardering
De villa is van algemeen belang. Het pand heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, namelijk de stichting van fabrikantenwoningen in een nieuw ontwikkeld villapark; het is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van het woonhuis. Het object is van architectuurhistorisch belang door de stijl en de detaillering en als voorbeeld van het oeuvre van de architect J. Cuypers. Het huis heeft ensemblewaarden als onderdeel van het villapark Tongelre. Het is van belang vanwege de architectonische gaafheid van het exterieur.

Description
Two-storey building, partly with a basement, on a rectangular ground plan, under a hipped roof with the ridge running parallel to the street. The front facade is provided with a risalit with a stepped gable on both the left and right sides. On the left side facade there is an extension under a gabled roof, parallel to the hipped roof. This extension extends partly behind the building and has an internal balcony at floor height.
The whole is executed in brick, the roofs are provided with wind ridges and covered with improved Dutch tiles. The door is placed in a curved brick surround, this surround projects slightly and is carried through to the roof edge. In this risalit there is a stone plaque above the door and above it an oval window. A small landing with steps is present in front of the door. The windows are compound windows with small glazing bars in the fanlights, the main lights are fitted with shutters.
On the rear side of the house there is a tiled terrace with steps down to the garden. Above the terrace doors a curved canopy is provided. In the rear facade a natural stone plaque is visible with the inscription "B.MIGNOT/9MEI 1916".
The interior is almost entirely in its original state. The hall and staircase are located centrally in the building. To the right of it is a room-and-suite with sliding doors. In the other rooms too, elements from the furnishings such as the wall panelling, floors and ceilings have been preserved in their original state.
The building is surrounded by a large garden with some trees from the time of construction. On the street side this garden is bounded by means of a low brick wall and an iron fence.
The fence is placed between brick pillars, in the pillars the name of the building "GRAN" "VILLE" is placed in natural stone plaques, the crowning of the pillars consists of expressionist-styled capitals. On the rear side a tennis court with a pavilion from the time of construction and a later added garage have been built in the garden. The garage remains outside protection.
