Inleiding
Pand, in 1916 gebouwd als BOTERCONTROLESTATION voor de Vereniging Botercontrôle. Het is een vrijstaand pand, uitgevoerd in Um 1800-stijl met enkele classicistische elementen. Het bevindt zich aan de Fazantlaan, aan de zuidkant van het villapark Tongelre, nabij het centrum van Eindhoven en is nu in gebruik als kantoor.
Omschrijving
Eénlaags pand op een rechthoekige plattegrond. Aan de voorzijde is een tweelaags risaliet met topgevel aanwezig, de linkerzijgevel is in het midden eveneens voorzien van een topgevel. Aan de rechterzijgevel is een iets terugliggend deel geplaatst, hierin bevindt zich de ingang met bordes en trapje. Het pand is uitgevoerd in baksteen waarbij de gevels zijn voorzien van een kroonlijst met een bloktandlijst. Het geheel wordt bekroond door een tentdak, gedekt met leisteen. De topgevels zijn voorzien van zadeldaken, haaks op het tentdak, de gootlijst, direct onder de dakrand aanwezig, gaat ter plekke van de topgevels over in een windveer.
Aan de voorzijde, tegen de risaliet heeft het pand een erker. De ramen zijn alle samengesteld en voorzien van een kleine roedenverdeling. In de strekken boven de ramen zijn de aanzet- en sluitstenen in natuursteen uitgevoerd. Boven de ingang is een bloktandlijst aangebracht, in een halfrond veld boven deze lijst zijn in pleisterwerk twee wapenschilden zichtbaar.
Naast de voordeur is een gevelsteen aangebracht met opschrift: EERSTE STEEN GELEGD/DOOR/W.VAN BREUGEL/OUDST BESTUURSLID V.D. B.C.E./OCTOBER 1916.
In het interieur is de indeling in grote lijnen gehandhaafd. Opvallende elementen in de inrichting zijn twee tegenover elkaar geplaatste kariatiden, onder het plafond in de gang.
Waardering
Het voormalige botercontrolestation is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, namelijk de stichting van gebouwen voor nieuwe functies in een nieuw gesticht villapark en als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van het kantoorgebouw. Single-storey building on a rectangular ground plan. At the front is a two-storey risalit with a stepped gable, the left side gable is also provided with a stepped gable in the middle. On the right side gable a slightly recessed section is placed, in which the entrance with landing and small steps is situated. The building is executed in brick with the facades provided with a cornice with a dentil moulding. The whole is crowned with a tent roof, covered with slate. The stepped gables are provided with gabled roofs, perpendicular to the tent roof, the gutter moulding, directly present under the roof edge, transitions to a wind-brace at the location of the stepped gables.
At the front, against the risalit, the building has an oriel window. The windows are all composite and provided with small glazing bars. In the stretches above the windows the ashlar and closing stones are executed in natural stone. Above the entrance is a dentil moulding, in a semicircular field above this moulding are two coats of arms visible in plasterwork.
Besides the front door a facade stone is placed with the inscription: FIRST STONE LAID/BY/W.VAN BREUGEL/OLDEST BOARD MEMBER OF THE B.C.E./OCTOBER 1916.
In the interior the layout has been largely maintained. Striking elements in the furnishing are two caryatids placed opposite each other, under the ceiling in the corridor.
