GRAFKAPEL van de familie Smits van Oyen, uitgevoerd in een Neo-Gotische stijl.
Omschrijving
Kapel op een rechthoekige plattegrond onder zadeldak, uitgevoerd in rode strengperssteen, het dak gedekt met leien. In het metselwerk zijn natuurstenen speklagen aangebracht met geometrische patronen uitgehakt. De topgevel is voorzien van een spitsboogfries, dat uitloopt in hoeklisenen en wordt bekroond door een natuurstenen deklijst met kruis.
Aan de voorzijde is een houten paneeldeur, rijk bewerkt, in een hardstenen omlijsting geplaatst. Erboven is een latei met reliëf en het opschrift SMITS VAN OYEN geplaatst. In het boogveld van de spitsboog boven de deur is onder andere het familiewapen gebeeldhouwd. In de zijgevels zijn kleine spitsboograampjes aangebracht, gevuld met glas-in-lood. In het interieur bestaat het plafond uit troggewelfjes. Tegen de achterwand van de kapel is een gekruisigde Christus geplaatst. Tegen de zijwanden zijn marmeren gedenkplaten aangebracht.
Voor de kapel is een kleine trap aangebracht, links ervan is een rechthoekig stuk grond omgeven door een lage muur en smeedijzeren hekwerk.

Het grafmonument is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling van de katholieke grafcultuur, het is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van het grafmonument. Description
Chapel on a rectangular floor plan under a gabled roof, executed in red pressed brick, the roof covered with slate. In the masonry natural stone bed courses are arranged with geometric patterns carved out. The top gable is provided with a pointed arch frieze, which extends into corner mouldings and is crowned by a natural stone coping with cross.
On the front a wooden panelled door, richly worked, is placed in a sandstone surround. Above it is a lintel with relief and the inscription SMITS VAN OYEN. In the field of the pointed arch above the door the family coat of arms is carved among other things. In the side elevations small pointed arch windows are arranged, filled with stained glass. In the interior the ceiling consists of barrel vaults. Against the rear wall of the chapel a crucified Christ is placed. Against the side walls marble memorial tablets are arranged.
Before the chapel a small staircase is arranged, to its left is a rectangular piece of ground surrounded by a low wall and wrought-iron railings.

The funeral monument is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as a special expression of a social and spiritual development, in particular the development of Catholic grave culture, it is also of importance for the typological development of the funeral monument.
