Inleiding
Aan de zuidelijke zijde van de Dorpsstraat staat, nabij de oude kom van Beugen, een T-BOERDERIJ in sobere Art Nouveaustijl uit omstreeks 1910. Omstreeks 1960 is het balkon tegen de middenrisaliet vernieuwd. Het achterliggende bedrijfsgedeelte is in 1998 op de plaats van een voormalige stal en schuur gebouwd en fungeert sedert 1998 als woonhuis.
Omschrijving
Het tweelaags object heeft een T-vormige plattegrond en bestaat uit een woonhuis met aanbouw uit 1910. Het woonhuis wordt afgedekt met een wolfdak dat is voorzien van rode, geglazuurde muldenpannen en rode kruispannen op de dakkapel in het midden van de voorgevel. Het bakstenen muurwerk van het woonhuis is versierd met strengpersstenen banden en strekken en heeft hardstenen geboorte- en sluitstenen. De symmetrische voorgevel heeft vier vensterassen met een centraal geplaatste ingangspartij die als risaliet over de verdieping doorloopt tot in de dakkapel. In de risaliet is op de begane grond een rondboogportiek met paneeldeur en bovenlicht met kleine roedenverdeling. De risaliet wordt geflankeerd door tweemaal twee T-schuifvensters, voorzien van hardstenen dorpels en een geometrisch ingedeeld bovenlicht. Boven de voordeur is tegen de risaliet een vernieuwd balkon aangebracht. De paneeldeur die toegang geeft tot dit balkon wordt geflankeerd door kunststenen velden. Het kleine zadeldak is afgewolfd en bekroond door een piron.
De eveneens symmetrische zijgevels hebben op de begane grond een tweetal schuifvensters (als in de voorgevel), terwijl de verdieping is voorzien van drie T-vensters met een driedelig bovenlicht. De oostgevel heeft een indeling met dubbele openslaande deuren met bovenlichten.
Een smeedijzeren hekwerk met Art-Nouveau detaillering scheidt de voortuin van de Dorpsstraat. Het hek hangt aan bakstenen pijlers en is voorzien van twee poortjes. Oostelijk van de voormalige boerderij ligt een door een oude beukenhaag omgeven tuin met kleine boomgaard. De westelijke tuin (met o.a. hulst, taxus en magnolia) wordt omgeven door een meidoornhaag.
Waardering
De voormalige T-boerderij uit omstreeks 1910 is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als voorbeeld van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling van de landbouw in oostelijk Noord-Brabant en als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van de boerderij. Architectuurhistorisch is het pand van belang vanwege de ornamentiek, waarin op bijzondere wijze motieven uit de toentertijd moderne stedelijke architectuur werden toegepast ter verhoging van de representativiteit. De voormalige T-boerderij is van belang wegens de gaafheid van het exterieur en bezit zeldzaamheidswaarde als vertegenwoordiger van de Art Nouveau.

On the southern side of the Dorpsstraat, near the old centre of Beugen, stands a T-FARMHOUSE in sober Art Nouveau style from around 1910. Around 1960 the balcony against the central risalit was renewed. The underlying business section was built in 1998 in place of a former barn and shed and has served as a dwelling house since 1998.
Description
The two-storey building has a T-shaped plan and consists of a dwelling house with an extension from 1910. The dwelling house is covered with a half-hipped roof with red glazed curved tiles and red hip tiles on the roof dormer in the middle of the front gable. The brick masonry of the dwelling house is decorated with extruded-brick bands and stretches and has stone coping and string stones. The symmetrical front facade has four window bays with a centrally placed entrance section that projects as a risalit through the upper storey and into the roof dormer. In the risalit is on the ground floor a round-arched portico with a panelled door and fanlight with small glazing bars. The risalit is flanked by twice two T-sash windows, fitted with stone sills and a geometrically divided fanlight. Above the front door a renewed balcony has been fitted against the risalit. The panelled door giving access to this balcony is flanked by artificial stone panels. The small gabled roof is rounded and crowned by a finial.
The equally symmetrical side gables have on the ground floor two sash windows (as in the front facade), while the upper storey is fitted with three T-windows with a three-part fanlight. The eastern gable has a layout with double-opening doors with fanlights.
A wrought-iron fence with Art Nouveau detailing separates the front garden from the Dorpsstraat. The fence hangs from brick pillars and is fitted with two gates. East of the former farmhouse lies a garden surrounded by an old beech hedge with a small orchard. The western garden (with inter alia holly, yew and magnolia) is surrounded by a hawthorn hedge.
Valuation
The former T-farmhouse from around 1910 is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical importance as an example of the socio-economic development of agriculture in eastern North Brabant and as an example of the typological development of the farmhouse. From an architectural-historical perspective the property is important because of its ornamentation, in which motifs from the then modern urban architecture were applied in a remarkable way to increase its representativeness. The former T-farmhouse is important because of the integrity of its exterior and possesses rarity value as a representative of Art Nouveau.
