Inleiding
Aan de zuidelijke zijde gesitueerde voormalige, in neoromaanse stijl opgetrokken kloosterkapel, oorspronkelijk behorend tot het voormalige klooster "De Weijer". De kapel dateert uit omstreeks 1930.
Omschrijving
De kloosterkapel heeft een kruisvormige plattegrond en is gemetseld in baksteen. Het muurwerk wordt afgesloten door gestucte lijsten. Het gebouw bestaat uit een schip van drie traveeën, een breed enkelscheeps dwarsschip en een koor, bestaande uit één travee met aangebouwde, lage en blinde apsis, alles voorzien van zadel- en lessenaarsdaken met lei in Maasdekking. Tegen het koor en schip zijn lage nevenruimten gebouwd, gedekt door samengestelde lessenaarsdaken. Het muurwerk wordt geschoord door lage gemetselde steunberen. Aan de oostzijde een klein portaal. In de gevels eenvoudige rondboogvensters, gevuld met niet-geornamenteerde glaspanelen in ijzeren roedenverdelingen.
Waardering
De kloosterkapel is van algemeen belang. Het gebouw heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van een geestelijke ontwikkeling, namelijk de bloei van orden en congregaties in de heerlijkheid Boxmeer en de heropleving in de periode na 1900. Het is tevens van belang als voorbeeld van de typologische ontwikkeling van het congregatieklooster. Het is architectuurhistorisch van belang vanwege de voor de bouwtijd uitzonderlijke stijlvormen. Against the choir and nave low side spaces have been built, covered by composite lean-to roofs. The masonry is braced by low brick buttresses. On the east side a small porch. In the facades simple arched windows, filled with non-ornamented glass panes in iron glazing bars.
