Inleiding Dit tuinhek hoort bij en is gelijktijdig gebouwd met de stadsvilla Lepellaan 6 in 1874 naar ontwerp van W. en J.L. Springer.
Omschrijving
TUINHEK uit 1874 bestaande uit twee onafhankelijke delen, een lang tuinhek aan de zijde van de Plantage Lepellaan en een toegangshek aan de zijde van de Plantage Middenlaan. Het lange hek loopt vanaf de woonvilla Plantage Lepellaan 6 tot aan de stal/koetshuis/koetsierswoning Plantage Lepellaan 5.Het bestaat uit een gemetselde voeting waarop een natuurstenen en aan de bovenzijde afgeronde afdekking. Hierop op regelmatige afstand van elkaar geplaatste gemetselde pijlers op bredere sokkels, waartussen rijk geornamenteerd smeedijzeren hekwerk met gietijzeren elementen. Smeedijzeren steunpunten naar de sokkel. Tussenliggende delen van het hek uit smeedwerk. Lijstwerk en stijlen met nodus. Voluut- en cirkelvormige ornamentiek. Het toegangshek aan de Plantage Middenlaan is gelegen tussen de lagere aanbouw en het naastgelegen pand, Plantage Middenlaan 58. Tegen dit naastgelegen pand bevindt zich een natuurstenen pijler met profilering en bol. Aan de bovenzijde een verbinding met de lagere aanbouw. Hierop driepasmotief en verder beslag en ornamentiek. Draaihek met soortgelijke vormgeving als omschreven.
Waardering Tuinhek uit 1875 van belang als historisch-functioneel onderdeel van het villa-complex Plantage Lepellaan en vanwege zijn decoratieve waarde.

GARDEN GATE from 1874 consisting of two independent sections, a long garden gate on the Plantage Lepellaan side and an entrance gate on the Plantage Middenlaan side. The long gate runs from the residential villa Plantage Lepellaan 6 to the stable/coach house/coachman's dwelling Plantage Lepellaan 5. It consists of a brick foundation on which a natural stone coping, rounded at the top. On this, at regular intervals, brick pillars on wider pedestals, between which richly ornamented wrought ironwork with cast iron elements. Wrought iron supports to the pedestal. Intermediate sections of the gate in wrought iron. List work and stiles with nodus. Volute and circular ornamentation. The entrance gate on the Plantage Middenlaan is situated between the lower extension and the adjacent building, Plantage Middenlaan 58. Against this adjacent building is a natural stone pillar with moulding and sphere. At the top a connection with the lower extension. Above this a three-cusped arch motif and further metalwork and ornamentation. Swing gate with similar form as described.
