Inleiding
Het betreft een voormalig BAARHUISJE op vierkante plattegrond uit omstreeks het midden van de negentiende eeuw, met aangebouwd PASTOORSGRAF uit 1869. Het geheel is gelegen te Huisseling direct ten zuiden van het schip van de Sint Lambertuskerk. In 1985 is het zuidelijke deel van het huisje afgebroken. Het overgebleven deel is in gebruik als opslagplaats.
Omschrijving
Het handvorm bakstenen gebouwtje heeft een zadeldak, voorzien van geschubde lei in maasdekking. In de oostelijke gevel bevindt zich een brede opgeklampte deur met smeedijzeren slotplaat en deurklink. In de westelijke gevel is een kruisvormig licht in het muurwerk uitgespaard. Tegen de noordelijke gevel ligt het hardstenen pastoorsgraf van Antonius Verkuulen, tussen 1824 en 1869 pastoor te Huisseling, bestaande uit een neo-gotische graftombe, waarop in laag-reliëf tussen doodskoppen en bladmotieven een kelk met hostie is afgebeeld. Het muurwerk boven het graf wordt voor het grootste deel in beslag genomen door een polychrome (voornamelijk oker, rood en blauw) muurschildering, waarop een ommuurde stad met poort en muurtorens, kerken en huis is afgebeeld.
Mogelijk betreft het het Hemelse Jeruzalem. De schildering wordt omgeven door een ezelsrugboogvormige bakstenen lijst, bekroond door een mogelijk ouder natuurstenen medaillon waarop een putto, rustende op doodskoppen, staat afgebeeld.
Waardering
Het grafmonument is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling van de katholieke grafcultuur, het is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van het baarhuisje annex grafmonument. Het heeft kunsthistorisch belang als voorbeeld van een polychrome buitenschildering. Introduction
This is a former ALMSHOUSE on a square ground plan from around the middle of the nineteenth century, with an attached PARSON'S GRAVE from 1869. The whole is located in Huisseling directly south of the nave of the Sint Lambertuskerk. In 1985 the southern part of the house was demolished. The remaining part is in use as a storage place.
Description
The handmade brick building has a gabled roof, covered with scalloped slate in Maastricht bond. In the eastern gable there is a wide battened door with wrought iron lock plate and door handle. In the western gable a cross-shaped light is cut out in the masonry. Against the northern gable lies the limestone parson's grave of Antonius Verkuulen, parson in Huisseling between 1824 and 1869, consisting of a neo-Gothic grave monument, on which in low relief between skulls and leaf motifs a chalice with host is depicted. The masonry above the grave is largely occupied by a polychrome (mainly ochre, red and blue) mural painting, on which a walled city with gate and town walls, churches and houses are depicted.
It is possibly the Heavenly Jerusalem. The painting is surrounded by a lancet-arch-shaped brick frame, crowned by a possibly older natural stone medallion on which a putto, resting on skulls, is depicted.

The grave monument is of general interest. It has cultural-historical value as a remarkable expression of a social and spiritual development, in particular the development of Catholic grave culture, it is also of importance for the typological development of the almshouse as a grave monument.
