Inleiding

Introduction

FARMHOUSE (hall-house type) in Craft-traditional style, possibly dating from the first half of the 18th century in its core, with a sober Neo-Renaissance front facade and an extension on the west facade from 1905. The long side of the original left side facade is plastered and fitted with new windows. The right side facade and rear facade are still largely intact.

Original layout with old mulberry trees and against the right side facade: three slate pears

Description

Farmhouse, erected on a rectangular, elongated floor plan beneath a gabled roof covered with red old-Dutch tiles, slightly overhanging. The extension, parallel with a flat roof, transitions into the plastered left side facade. The brickwork of the front facade, in red brick in stretcher bond, is crossed by layers of yellow extruded brick. On the ground floor there are two six-pane sash windows with the thumbs of the missing shutters still visible in the window frames. Granite threshold and steps and tiled stoep at the front door. The fanlights of the windows and the door are at the same height and are provided with the same type of arched fields with decorative brickwork and segmental arches with yellow extruded closing and setting stones. On the upper storey a window as described. The overhanging roof edge rests on continuous beams. In the three-sided bay of the extension there are three window frames as described under a wooden, corniced roof edge. The right side facade with rod wall anchors is built in hand-moulded brick. On the far left there is a narrow sash window, followed by a sash window with dimensions as at the front and one slightly wider window. All windows are closed with roller shutters and have tile sills. The wide windows have nails with rings. On the right a panelled door with glass and decorative grilles in the upper part, above a hardstone threshold with hardstone finished steps. Above the door a moulded calf with fanlight. To the right of the door a horizontal six-pane sash window and a divided, clamped door. The rear facade is a simple spout gable with roller shutters as termination. The brickwork corresponds to that in the right side facade. On the ground floor a wooden roller door with twice four-pane windows, under a wooden hood. Above this a clamped door with iron hinges and two heart-shaped openings, under a roller shutter. Also a sixteen-pane sash window under a roller shutter. In the gable hangs a bell. On the right side there is a wall that turns at right angles into a remnant of a grape wall, with Dutch tiles on the buttresses.

The interior consists of a residential part and a rear shed with a single beam layer on which two roof trusses.

LAYOUT around farmhouse in landscape style including among other things historic mulberry trees to the right of the farmhouse and to the left of the farmhouse an orchard with among other things apricots and apples. Along the right side facade of the farmhouse three historic slate pears in fan form. More functional layout around the greenhouses with semi-paved paths and espalier fruit along the fruit wall. Remnant of rails between the greenhouses, originally used in combination with a lorry to transport crates of produce to and from the boats.
