Inleiding
AULA, onderdeel uitmakend van het complex Algemene Begraafplaats uit 1916. De aula is gelegen in de zuid-oostelijke hoek van de begraafplaats en gebouwd in een aan het neoclassicisme verwante bouwstijl.
N.B. de aula is in 1948 verbouwd.
Omschrijving
Eenlaags, rechthoekig, grijs gepleisterd pand onder een plat dak met een als kroonlijst uitgevoerde gootlijst. De voorgevel (zuid-west) bestaat voor 2/3 deel uit een door vier zuilen ingedeelde loggia waarachter twee dubbele paneeldeuren en een dubbele deur met vensters geplaatst zijn. De vloer van de galerij is belegd met terrazzo. In de linker zijwand van de galerij bevindt zich een rechthoekige, rastervormig ingevulde opening. In het rechter deel van de voorgevel zijn twee ronde vensters geplaatst. De linker zijgevel bevat drie geschakelde vensters onder een doorlopende latei.
In de rechter zijgevel komen hoge dubbele paneeldeuren voor waarvan het bovenste paneel met glas-in-lood gevuld is en bevatten alle vensters, alsook die in de achtergevel dergelijke vullingen. Rechts daarvan een enkele paneeldeur onder een bovenlicht. Links in de gevel een dubbel venster en een klein venster.
De achtergevel heeft een strook met geschakelde vensters en daarnaast een afzonderlijk dubbel venster, in beide gevallen van glas-in-lood voorzien.
Waardering
De aula is van algemeen belang vanwege de cultuur- en architectuurhistorische waarde als onderdeel van de begraafplaats en vanwege de aan het neoclassicisme verwante bouwstijl.

AULA, component of the General Cemetery complex from 1916. The aula is located in the south-eastern corner of the cemetery and built in a style related to neoclassicism.

Description
Single-storey, rectangular, grey-rendered building under a flat roof with a cornice serving as drip moulding. The front facade (south-west) consists for 2/3 of a loggia divided by four columns behind which two double panelled doors and a double door with windows are placed. The gallery floor is laid with terrazzo. In the left side wall of the gallery is a rectangular, grid-patterned opening. In the right part of the front facade are two round windows. The left side facade contains three linked windows under a continuous lintel.
In the right side facade are tall double panelled doors, the upper panel of which is filled with leaded glass, and all windows, as well as those in the rear facade, contain such fillings. To the right of these a single panelled door under a fanlight. On the left in the facade a double window and a small window.
The rear facade has a strip with linked windows and beside it a separate double window, in both cases furnished with leaded glass.
Valuation
The aula is of general importance on account of its cultural and architectural-historical value as part of the cemetery and because of its building style related to neoclassicism.
The aula is reasonably intact in its main form, material use and detailing.
