Inleiding.
ST. WILLIBRORDUSBEELD, gehouwen uit zandsteen in 1862 en staande op het kerkhof behorende bij de St. Willibrorduskerk te Bakel.
Het beeld staat achter de Calvariegroep vlak bij de kerkhofmuur, met een eigen neogotische achterwand, het voormalige baarhuisje.
Omschrijving.
Het 2.60 meter hoge beeld staat op een eenvoudige lage sokkel.
Op de voetplaat is in gotische letters de naam St. Willibrordus uitgehouwen. Het beeld bestaat uit twee blokken zandsteen. Willibrordus is gekleed in bisschopsgewaad met staf en mijter. In de linkerhand torst hij de Bijbel met daarop een model van de St. Willibrorduskerk.
Waardering.
Het Willibrordusbeeld is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociale en geestelijke ontwikkeling, in het bijzonder de ontwikkeling van de katholieke grafcultuur, het is tevens van belang voor de typologische ontwikkeling van het kerkhofmonument.
Het heeft kunsthistorisch belang als vroeg voorbeeld van kerkelijke beeldhouwkunst. Het heeft ensemblewaarden als onderdeel van een groter geheel dat cultuurhistorisch en architectuurhistorisch van belang is. Het is gaaf bewaard gebleven en typologisch zeldzaam.

Introduction.
ST. WILLIBRORDUS STATUE, carved from sandstone in 1862 and standing on the churchyard belonging to the St. Willibrordus Church in Bakel.
The statue stands behind the Calvary group close to the churchyard wall, with its own neo-gothic rear wall, the former bier house.
Description.
The 2.60 metre high statue stands on a simple low base.
On the footplate the name St. Willibrordus is carved in gothic letters. The statue consists of two blocks of sandstone. Willibrordus is dressed in bishop's vestments with staff and mitre. In his left hand he carries the Bible with upon it a model of the St. Willibrordus Church.
Valuation.
The Willibrordus statue is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as a particular expression of a social and spiritual development, in particular the development of Catholic burial culture, it is moreover of importance for the typological development of the churchyard monument.
It has art-historical importance as an early example of ecclesiastical sculpture. It has ensemble values as part of a larger whole that is of cultural-historical and architectural-historical importance. It has been preserved intact and is typologically rare.
