Inleiding.
WOONHUIS, gebouwd circa 1860 in een eclectische stijl. Oorspronkelijk leerlooierswoning. De woning heeft daarna een horecabestemming gehad en is patronaatsgebouw geweest.
Omschrijving.
Een éénlaagse bouwmassa, acht traveeën breed op een rechthoekige plattegrond. Het geheel heeft een mansardedak, gedekt met geschubde leien.
Het pand is uitgevoerd in baksteen. De voorgevel is geblokt gepleisterd, op een glad gepleisterd basement. De rechterzijgevel heeft een gepleisterde plint. Onder de geprofileerde goot een gepleisterde lijst met rechthoekige vlakken en cirkels. De goot rust op met loofwerk versierde consoles.
Het pand heeft getoogde vierruitsramen met bovenlichten en een houten paneeldeur. Ramen en deuren zijn in geprofileerde omlijstingen met brede kuiven gevat. In het dakvlak bevinden zich vier (zinken) oeils de boeuf, bekroond door een pinakel. De zijgevel bevat zesruitsramen en een deur. In het verlengde van de zijgevel strekt zich een muur uit met opgemetselde delen, bekroond door natuursteen.
De achtergevel bevat nieuw metselwerk. In het dakvlak zijn moderne dakkapellen aanwezig.
Waardering
Het geheel is van algemeen belang. Aan de oorspronkelijke functie ontleent het cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van de bestuurlijke en sociaal-economische ontwikkeling in het Peelgebied. A single-storey building mass, eight bays wide on a rectangular ground plan. The whole has a mansard roof, covered with shingled slate.
The building is executed in brick. The front facade is rusticated and plastered, on a smooth plastered basement. The right side gable has a plastered plinth. Below the moulded gutter is a plastered frieze with rectangular panels and circles. The gutter rests on consoles decorated with leafwork.
The building has arched four-pane windows with fanlights and a wooden panelled door. Windows and doors are set in moulded surrounds with broad hoods. In the roof plane are four (zinc) oeil de boeuf windows, crowned by a pinnacle. The side gable contains six-pane windows and a door. In the continuation of the side gable extends a wall with brickwork, crowned by natural stone.
The rear gable contains new brickwork. Modern dormers are present in the roof plane.
Valuation
The whole is of general importance. Its original function gives it cultural-historical value as an example of administrative and socio-economic development in the Peel region. It has architectural-historical importance because of its detailing and use of materials as an example of the treatment of eclectic motifs. It has ensemble values as part of the old centre of Gemert.
