Inleiding.
Voormalig GEMEENTEHUIS in Eclectische stijl in 1885 gebouwd naar ontwerp van architect Dreesen uit Helmond.
Omschrijving.
Tweelaagse hoofdmassa op een blokvormige plattegrond onder een plat dak met dakschilden. De voorgevel is drie traveeën breed en heeft een middenrisaliet.
Dakschilden zijn gedekt met geschubde leien. Het pand is uitgevoerd in baksteen en heeft een iets vooruitstekende bakstenen plint. De zijgevel, grenzend aan nummer 12 is gepleisterd. Hoekpilasters zijn op de begane grond geblokt gepleisterd uitgevoerd, daarboven glad. Tussen de begane grond en verdieping bevindt zich een gepleisterde cordonlijst. De bovenste rand van de gevel wordt versierd door een kroonlijst, aan de voorzijde met consoles. De risaliet is eveneens gepleisterd en op de begane grond voorzien van een uitstekende portiek met dubbele paneeldeur met smeedijzeren roosters en een hardstenen stoep. Naast de deur is een gevelsteen aangebracht met opschrift: P.L.P./G.SLITS/BURGEMEESTER/18 19-5 85.
Erboven bevindt zich een klein bordes met opengewerkte balustrade en vlaggenmast. Openslaande deuren hierachter zijn in een geprofileerde omlijsting met kuif geplaatst. In de kroonlijst, ter plekke van het bordes is het gemeentewapen aangebracht.
Aan weerszijden van de risaliet zijn getoogde schuiframen aanwezig onder gepleisterde segmentbogen, voorzien van een dekoratieve sluitsteen en met een hardstenen onderdorpel. Ook de zijgevel bevat getoogde ramen. In het dakvlak is aan de voorzijde, boven de risaliet een dakkapel in classicistische omlijsting geplaatst. In de zijgevel bevinden zich twee oeils de boeuf. Dakrand is van een gootlijst voorzien.
Waardering.
Het geheel is van algemeen belang. Aan de oorspronkelijke functie ontleent het cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van de bestuurlijke en sociaal-economische ontwikkeling in het Peelgebied. Het heeft architectuurhistorisch belang vanwege detaillering en materiaalgebruik als voorbeeld van de verwerking van eclectische motieven. Het heeft ensemblewaarden als onderdeel van de oude kern van Gemert.

Two-storey main mass on a block-shaped ground plan under a flat roof with roof slabs. The front facade is three bays wide and has a central risalite.
Roof slabs are covered with shingled slate. The building is executed in brick and has a slightly projecting brick plinth. The side gable, adjoining number 12 is plastered. Corner pilasters are executed with rustication on the ground floor, smooth above. Between the ground floor and upper storey is a plastered cordon stripe. The upper edge of the facade is decorated by a cornice, on the front with consoles. The risalite is also plastered and provided on the ground floor with a projecting portico with double panelled door with wrought-iron grilles and a stone step. Next to the door is a facade stone placed with inscription: P.L.P./G.SLITS/BURGEMEESTER/18 19-5 85.
Above it is a small landing with openwork balustrade and flagstaff. French doors behind are placed in a moulded surround with a hood. In the cornice, at the level of the landing, the municipal coat of arms is placed.
On either side of the risalite are arched sash windows under plastered segmental arches, provided with a decorative keystone and with a stone window sill. The side gable also contains arched windows. In the roof plane on the front, above the risalite, a dormer in classical surrounds has been placed. In the side gable are two oeil de boeuf windows. The roof edge is fitted with a gutter moulding.
Valuation.
The whole is of general importance. Its original function gives it cultural-historical value as an example of administrative and socio-economic development in the Peel region. It has architectural-historical importance because of its detailing and use of materials as an example of the treatment of eclectic motifs. It has ensemble values as part of the old centre of Gemert.
