Inleiding
In de as van de Marktstraat gelegen houten HERENHUIS, gebouwd rond 1875 in neo-classicistische trant en vanaf 1879 in gebruik als dokterswoning annex praktijkruimte. Het pand vormt de visuele afsluiting van de haaks op de Zaan gerichte Markstraat.
Omschrijving
Houten herenhuis gebouwd op L-vormig grondplan en bestaande uit een blokvormig op de as van de Marktstraat gericht hoofdvolume met aan de linkerzijde een teruggelegen vleugel. Het huis telt twee bouwlagen. Het hoofdvolume heeft een flauw hellend schilddak, de vleugel een kap met plat en vier schilden met steile helling, waarvan de noklijst op gelijke hoogte ligt als de nok van voornoemd schilddak. De kap is bedekt met zwarte geglazuurde Hollandse pannen. De wanden zijn rond het houtskelet uitgevoerd in witte horizontale houten rabatdelen op een gepleisterde plint.
De symmetrische voorgevel is een lijstgevel ter breedte van vijf vensterassen. De middenas bevat de hoofdingang, bestaande uit een via vier treden te bereiken paneeldeur met ijzeren deurroosters en met éénruits bovenlicht. Boven de voordeur bevindt zich op de verdieping een schuifvenster, dat net als de schuifvensters in de overige vier assen ongedeeld is. De middenas heeft boven de kroonlijst een tweelichts dakkapel onder fronton. De deuropening en de vensteropeningen worden op de begane grond afgesloten door een korte kroonlijst en op de verdieping door een fronton met uitgesneden rankwerk. Beide zijgevels hebben op de begane grond ongedeelde schuifvensters. Wooden gentleman's house built on an L-shaped ground plan and consisting of a block-shaped main volume oriented on the axis of Marktstraat with a recessed wing on the left side. The house has two storeys. The main volume has a gently sloping hipped roof, the wing has a roof with a flat section and four hips with steep slope, the ridge of which lies at the same height as the ridge of the aforementioned hipped roof. The roof is covered with black glazed Dutch tiles. The walls are executed around the timber frame in white horizontal timber board panels on a plastered plinth.
The symmetrical front facade is a cornice-topped facade spanning five window bays. The central axis contains the main entrance, consisting of a panelled door accessed via four steps with iron door grilles and with a single-pane fanlight. Above the front door on the upper storey is a sash window, which like the sash windows in the other four bays is undivided.
