Inleiding
IJzeren SCHEEPVAARTGELEIDEBAKEN uit 1886, gesitueerd aan de Houthavenkade te Zaandam. Dit object maakt deel uit van een complex van twee bakens. Tot 1997 stond het aan de Hogedijk.
Omschrijving
Scheepvaartgeleidebaken bestaande uit een hoge ijzeren mast opgebouwd uit hoekprofielen en strippen die tot vakwerken zijn geklonken. De mast wordt bekroond met een ronde schijf met daarop het jaartal 1886. Voor de schijf bevindt zich een seinlicht dat schuilgaat achter een driehoekig rooster.

Het ijzeren scheepvaartgeleidebaken is van algemeen belang wegens cultuurhistorische waarde als gaaf bewaard voorbeeld van een laat negentiende-eeuws ijzeren scheepvaartgeleidebaken. Navigation beacon consisting of a tall iron mast built up from angle profiles and strips that are riveted together to form lattice work. The mast is crowned with a round disc bearing the year 1886. In front of the disc is a signal light that is concealed behind a triangular lattice.

The iron navigation beacon is of general importance due to its cultural-historical value as a well-preserved example of a late 19th-century iron navigation beacon. The navigation beacon has ensemble value as part of a system of two beacons, the second of which stands in the Oude Haven.
