Inleiding
Houten SCHEEPVAARTGELEIDEBAKEN uit omstreeks 1886, gesitueerd in de Oude Haven, op enkele meters ten zuiden van het midden van de nieuwe brug (Spiekeroog) naar het Eiland in de Voorzaan te Zaandam. Dit object maakt deel uit van een complex van twee bakens. Het andere baken staat aan de Houthavenkade. Het houten baken is sinds 1886 enkele malen vernieuwd en stond tot 1997 op de zuidpunt van Het Eiland.
Omschrijving
Houten scheepvaartgeleidebaken, bestaande uit een verticale balk, gesteund door een voet van vier verticale balken, diagonale balken en een platform. De balk wordt bekroond door een driehoekig rooster waarvoor zich een lamp bevindt.
Waardering
Het houten scheepvaartbaken is van algemeen belang wegens cultuurhistorische waarde als grotendeels gaaf bewaard voorbeeld van een laat negentiende-eeuws houten scheepvaartgeleidebaken. Het scheepvaartgeleidebaken heeft ensemblewaarde als onderdeel van een stelsel van twee bakens, waarvan het andere staat aan de Houthavenkade.

Wooden NAVIGATION BEACON from approximately 1886, situated in the Oude Haven, a few metres south of the centre of the new bridge (Spiekeroog) to the Eiland in the Voorzaan in Zaandam. This object forms part of a complex of two beacons. The other beacon stands at the Houthavenkade. The wooden beacon has been renewed several times since 1886 and stood on the south point of Het Eiland until 1997.
Description
Wooden navigation beacon, consisting of a vertical beam, supported by a base of four vertical beams, diagonal beams and a platform. The beam is crowned by a triangular lattice with a lamp in front of it.

The wooden navigation beacon is of general importance due to its cultural-historical value as a largely well-preserved example of a late 19th-century wooden navigation beacon.
