Inleiding
Vaste BRUG met toegangshek uit 1935, ontworpen door de gemeentearchitect J. Dekker, als onderdeel van de Algemene Begraafplaats. Deze aan het zuideinde gelegen brug, geeft, evenals als de aan het noordeinde gelegen identieke brug, toegang tot de als één geheel ontworpen begraafplaats.
Omschrijving
Een uit rode baksteen (kruisverband) opgetrokken vaste brug, geslagen over een de begraafplaats begrenzend slootje, voorzien van een duiker. De zijwanden die recht op de sloot zijn geplaatst lopen in de gesloten borstwering van de brug over. De borstwering neemt vanaf de straatzijde (en daar voorzien van voluutvormig metselwerk) naar de pijlers van het toegangshek in hoogte toe en per zijde van de brug neigen ze in een vloeiende beweging naar elkaar. De rechthoekig gemetselde hekpijlers, zijn voorzien van natuurstenen kussenvormige dekplaten. Tussen de pijlers een smeedijzeren dubbel toegangshek met pieken en regels met accoladevormige beëindiging. Aan de zijden van de sloot bezitten de pijlers krulvormige smeedijzeren wangen.
Waardering
De brug met toegangshek is van algemeen cultuur- en architectuurhistorisch van belang als een eenvoudig, doch representatief en gaaf voorbeeld van een gemetselde brug met smeedijzeren toegangshek uit de jaren '30 van de 20ste eeuw. Van ensemblewaarde als ruimtelijk, stilistisch en functioneel onderdeel van begraafplaats.

A fixed bridge constructed of red brick (Flemish bond), spanning a small watercourse bounding the cemetery, fitted with a culvert. The parapet increases in height from the street side (and there provided with volute-shaped brickwork) towards the pillars of the access gate, and on each side of the bridge they incline towards each other in a flowing movement. The rectangular brickwork gate pillars are provided with natural stone cushion-shaped coping stones. Between the pillars a wrought-iron double access gate with spikes and rails with accolade-shaped termination. On the sides of the watercourse the pillars have scroll-shaped wrought-iron cheeks.

The bridge with access gate is of general cultural and architectural-historical significance as a simple, yet representative and intact example of a brickwork bridge with wrought-iron access gate from the 1930s. Of ensemble value as a spatial, stylistic and functional component of the cemetery.
