AULA, op begraafplaats, uit 1935, ontworpen in de stijl van de Delftse School door de gemeentearchitect J. Dekker, als onderdeel van de totale aanleg van de Algemene Begraafplaats.
Omschrijving
Aula van één bouwlaag op een vrijwel vierkant grondvlak, onder een zadeldak met zwart/rood genuanceerde nieuwe Romaanse pannen, met de nokrichting in langsrichting van de begraafplaats (noord-zuid). Aan de zuidzijde bevindt zich op een vierkant gemetselde voet een houten dakruiter met acht rondboogvormige openingen en een bazuin blazende koperen engel als windvaan in top. De gevels zijn opgetrokken uit rode baksteen (kruisverband) met vlechtingen langs de kopgevels. Natuurstenen sierblokjes zijn toegepast in de rondbogen boven de vensters en de deuren en langs de geveleinden van beide kopgevels. De oostelijke entree heeft rondom hardstenen blokken met in een grote rechthoekige sluitsteen de tekst: "Die in Mij gelooft/ zal leven/ al ware hij ook gestorven". Een belangrijk decoratief element zijn de smeedijzeren staaf- en sierankers tegen de gevels. De beide langsgevels worden afgesloten door een houten bakgoot met gootklossen. Rechts van het midden bevindt zich een korfboogvormige dubbele deur met smeedijzeren gehengen; links ervan een klein zwaar uitgevoerd venster met vierruits raam. De beide kopgevels zijn symmetrisch opgezette tuitgevels met schouderstukken. De noordelijke tuitgevel heeft als gevelbeëindiging een uitkragende pinakel en op de begane grond twee zwaar uitgevoerde kruiskozijnen met glas-in-lood. Tegen de zuidelijke tuitgevel is een kleine uitbouw (berging) onder een zadeldak geplaatst. Deze heeft aan langszijde een klein vierkant venster en in de oostelijke kopgevel een klein rond venster. Een deur bevindt zich in de westelijke kopgevel.
Het inwendige van de zich nog vrijwel in oorspronkelijke staat bevindende aula, overdekt met een balkenzoldering, is bestemd als rouwkamer. Tegen de westmuur bevindt zich een op hardstenen consoles rustende, hooggeplaatste schoorsteenboezem. De vloer is belegd met zwarte en gele tegels. De houten banken zijn eveneens in stijl.
Waardering
De aula is van algemeen cultuur- en architectuurhistorisch belang als een eenvoudig, doch representatief en gaaf voorbeeld van een aula uit de jaren '30 van de 20ste eeuw in de stijl van de Delftse School.

Chapel of one storey on an almost square ground plan, under a gabled roof with black/red nuanced new Romanesque tiles, with the ridge direction in the longitudinal direction of the cemetery (north-south). On the south side, on a square mortared base, there is a wooden roof turret with eight round-arch openings and a trumpet-blowing copper angel as weather vane on top. The facades are constructed of red brick (Flemish bond) with plaiting along the gable ends. Natural stone decorative blocks are used in the round arches above the windows and doors and along the gable ends of both gable walls. The eastern entrance is surrounded by sandstone blocks with in a large rectangular keystone the text: "He that believeth in Me / shall live / though he were dead". An important decorative element are the wrought-iron rod and ornamental wall anchors against the facades. Both side walls are finished with a wooden gutter with gutter brackets. To the right of centre there is a segmental-arch double door with wrought-iron hinges; to its left a small heavily executed window with four-pane frame. Both gable ends are symmetrically arranged spout gables with shoulders. The northern spout gable has as gable termination a projecting pinacle and on the ground floor two heavily executed cross windows with leaded glass. Against the southern spout gable a small extension (storage) is placed under a gabled roof. This has on the side wall a small square window and in the eastern gable end a small round window. A door is located in the western gable end.
The interior of the chapel, which is still in virtually original condition, is covered with a beam ceiling and is designated as a mourning room. Against the west wall there is a fireplace breast resting on sandstone consoles, set high. The floor is laid with black and yellow tiles. The wooden benches are also in style.
Valuation
The chapel is of general cultural and architectural-historical importance as a simple, yet representative and intact example of a crematorium chapel from the 1930s of the 20th century in the style of the Delft School.
The chapel is of importance because of its ensemble value as a spatial, stylistic and functional component of the cemetery.
