Inleiding
Twee BEAMBTENWONINGEN onder-één-kap gebouwd in 1927 in traditionalistische stijl naar ontwerp van architect A.J.N. Boosten in opdracht van de Stichting Thuis Best te Heerlen.
Dit blok van twee woningen vormt samen met zes blokken beambtenwoningen, de Augustinuskerk met pastorie en kapelanie het complex Prins de Lignestraat. In 1952 is door Thuis Best bij de panden een berging achter het washok gebouwd, welke zijn UITGESLOTEN van bescherming.
Verder zijn UITGESLOTEN van bescherming de terrasoverkapping, de carport en de rolluiken bij pand nr.21; bij pand nr.23 de rolluiken, de terrasoverkapping en dubbele garage met nr.25.
Omschrijving
Blok van twee BEAMBTENWONINGEN in twee bouwlagen met rechthoekige en gespiegelde plattegrond. De woningen hebben een geknikt zadeldak, waarvan de noklijn loodrecht staat op de straatrichting, met een minder hoog ingestoken asymmetrisch zadeldak loodrecht op de nokrichting. Een dak met rode Tuiles du Nord met gootoverstekken in hout. Gevels van geel genuanceerde baksteen, metselwerk in halfsteens en kettingverband met licht risalerende trasraam plint in kruisverband met rollaag. In de gevels rechthoekige houten vensters en deuren. Alle gevels van de panden zijn gespiegeld. Pand nr.23 heeft kunststoffen kozijnen, behalve bij de dakkapellen.
De VOORGEVEL van elk pand heeft een driekantige erker met bovenlicht onder een plat dak. In de topgevel twee vensters onder betonlatei en boven brede bloembak. Een verdiept gelegen entree onder grote luifel op stalen kolom met houten bekleding, op baksteen bloembak. De oorspronkelijke houten voordeur heeft een verticale houten lat en zes kleine raampjes. Voor de deur ligt een rode tegelvloer. Pand nr.21 heeft het witgesausd portiek en vernieuwde betegeling. Pand nr.23 heeft een vernieuwde voordeur. Op het voordakvlak is een houten dakkapel aanwezig met zaagtandbeschot. Deze heeft een venster met roedeverdeling en is gelegen boven een houten bloembak.
In de ZIJGEVEL van elk pand ligt de portiek met entree en twee kleine vensters, achter een muurtje. In de topgevel bevindt zich een vierkant venster onder latei en een hoge schoorsteen met verticale uitsparing over de volle hoogte rustend op kunststeen console. Bij de panden zijn de schoorstenen gedeeltelijk nieuw gevoegd. Achter de schoorsteen ligt een volume van twee bouwlagen met plat dak. De eerste laag heeft een driedelig keukenraam onder korte luifel, die doorloopt tot aan de bijkeuken als bakgoot. In het zijdakvlak ligt een dakraam en boven het platdak ligt een dakkapel met drie vensters onder een plat dak. Verder een nokschoorsteen en korte schoorsteen op plat dak.
De ACHTERGEVEL heeft een vooruitspringende plint en dubbele houten tuindeuren met roedeverdeling en bovenlicht, gelegen onder een latei. En een houten keukendeur. Bij de panden is de eerste laag witgesausd. Bij pand nr.23 een terrasoverkapping en een nieuwe schuifpui. In de tweede laag liggen drie dubbele vensters onder doorlopende betonlatei en boven aaneengesloten dubbele rij ongeglazuurde rode dorpelstenen.
Achter de keuken ligt een WASHOK van baksteen in halfsteens verband met iets vooruitspringende plint in kruisverband onder overstekend plat dak. De woningen worden gedeeltelijk gescheiden door een TUINMUUR.
De structuur van het INTERIEUR van pand nr.21 is redelijk in tact en van pand nr.23 matig in tact.
Waardering
De woningen bezitten in hoge mate cultuurhistorische waarden, vanwege de oorspronkelijke funktie, beambtenwoningen voor de Staatsmijn Maurits, als bijzondere uitdrukking van een sociaal-economische ontwikkeling. De hoge architectuurhistorische waarden worden bepaald door het belang voor het oeuvre van de architect A. Boosten, de esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp en vanwege de ornamentiek. Description
Block of two STAFF HOUSES in two storeys with rectangular and mirrored floor plan. The houses have a kinked gabled roof, of which the ridge line is perpendicular to the street direction, with a lower inserted asymmetric gabled roof perpendicular to the ridge direction. A roof with red Tuiles du Nord with wooden eaves overhangs. Facades of yellow-toned brickwork, masonry in half-brick bond and chain bond with slightly projecting sandstone plinth in cross bond with roll course.
