Inleiding
PASTORIE van parochie H. Augustinus is gebouwd in 1934 in traditionele stijl met elementen van het expressionisme, naar ontwerp van J. en P. Cuypers, Amsterdam-Roermond. De pastorie vormt met de Augustinuskerk, kapelanie en zeven woningblokken naar ontwerp van architect A. Boosten het complex Prins de Lignestraat.
UITGESLOTEN van bescherming zijn de garage bij de pastorie en het golfplaten afdak achter de poort.
Omschrijving
De PASTORIE heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en twee bouwlagen onder zadeldaken met genuanceerde Hollandse pannen. De gevels hebben een optrek in gele baksteen in Vlaams verband op geel genuanceerde en geprofileerde plint met rollaag. In de gevels bevinden zich rechthoekige houten kozijnen met bovenlichten onder rollaag, met rode gebakken dorpelstenen. De kopgevels hebben vlechtwerk. Het dak heeft bakgoten en een dakkapel met dakschild. Verder een bakstenen klokkenstoeltje met angelusklokje.
De VOORGEVEL heeft links een topgevel en rechts een volume van één laag met plat dak en borstwering met gebakken afdeksteen. In eerste bouwlaag bevinden zich vensters zonder bovenlicht. Links in de gevel zijn drie vensters, een rondboog entree met verdiept gelegen houten voordeur en rechts twee dubbele vensters. In tweede laag bevinden zich drie dubbele vensters met bovenlichten en in de topgevel twee rechthoekige vensters, waarboven een klein venster. Tegen de rechterzijgevel tussen pastorie en kerk staat een baksteen muur met rollaag waarin een spitsboogvormige poort. Deze poort heeft een smeedijzeren hek, waarboven spijlen in V-vorm. Achter hek is een dakschild van golfplaat geplaatst, deze is uitgesloten van bescherming.
De RECHTER ZIJGEVEL heeft onder het afdak twee vensters en een houten deur. De deur ligt tussen bakstenen kolommen onder een betonlatei. Boven de latei zijn drie kleine glas-in-lood vensters. De borstwering op de eerste bouwlaag eindigt hierboven. Rechts van de deur heeft de gevel nog twee grote en twee kleine vensters met bovenlicht.
De ACHTERGEVEL heeft links een volume van één laag, waarvoor een trap naar de kelder. Rechts is de gevel in twee lagen met een topgevel. De kozijnen zijn dubbele kozijnen met met bovenlicht en in de topgevel drie kleine vensters. Voor de achtergevel een serre met dubbele kozijnen met bovenlicht en een dubbele tuindeur onder een platdak met kleine overstek. Deze loopt door tot aan de linkerzijgevel.
De LINKER ZIJGEVEL heeft enkele vensters met bovenlicht onder een goot overstek. Op het dak een dakkapel met dakschild.
De oorspronkelijke structuur van het INTERIEUR is behouden. WAARDEVOLLE INTERIEURONDERDELEN zijn onder andere in de hal de meerkleurige tegels, klapdeuren met bovenlicht, lambrisering met baksteen bloktandlijst en het trappenhuis met een glas-in-loodvenster van H. Augustinus, door C. Alberdingk (1933) vervaardigd bij atelier Cuypers Roermond in opdracht van bouwpastoor J.H. van Eys.
Waardering
De pastorie bezit in hoge mate cultuurhistorische waarden als bijzondere uitdrukking van een geestelijke ontwikkeling. De architectuurhistorische waarden worden bepaald door het belang van de pastorie voor het oeuvre van de architecten en de esthetische kwaliteiten van het ontwerp en ornamentiek. De pastorie vormt met de Augustinuskerk een essentieel onderdeel van de planmatige uitbreiding van Geleen tijdens het Interbellum. De pastorie vormt een bijzonder geheel met het complex beambtenwoningen in de Prins de Lignestraat. De pastorie is in hoge mate gaaf bewaard gebleven, zowel wat betreft exterieur als interieur. Het gebouw is van groot belang voor de structurele en visuele gaafheid van de bebouwde omgeving. De pastorie is representatief en substantieel voor de geschiedenis van het wonen binnen sociaal hiërarchisch bepaalde kaders waarbinnen lichte vormen van differentiatie mogelijk waren hetgeen tot uitdrukking komt in de bouwkundige hoofdvorm, de detaillering en de materiaalkeuze. Binnen het ensemble Van de Prins de Lignystraat vervult de pastorie een prominente rol in zowel stedebouwkundig opzicht en als exponent van het maatschappijbeeld uit de bouwtijd waarin de zielzorg onlosmakelijk verbonden was met het dagelijks leven van het mijnwerkersbestaan. Description
The PARSONAGE has a rectangular floor plan and two storeys under gabled roofs with nuanced Dutch tiles. The facades have a facing of yellow brickwork in Flemish bond on yellow nuanced and profiled plinth with roll moulding. The facades contain rectangular wooden cross windows with fanlights under roll moulding, with red baked terracotta sills. The end gables have wattle and daub. The roof has gutters and a roof dormer with roof shield. Furthermore a brick belfry with angelus bell.
The FRONT FACADE has on the left a stepped gable and on the right a volume of one storey with flat roof and breast wall with baked covering tile. On the first storey are windows without fanlight. On the left of the facade are three windows, a round-arched entrance with recessed wooden front door and on the right two double windows. On the second storey are three double windows with fanlights and in the stepped gable two rectangular windows, above which a small window. Against the right side facade between parsonage and church stands a brick wall with roll moulding in which a pointed-arch shaped gate. This gate has a wrought-iron grille, above which spikes in V-shape. Behind the grille a corrugated iron roof shield has been placed, this is excluded from protection.
The RIGHT SIDE FACADE has under the canopy two windows and a wooden door. The door is situated between brick columns under a concrete lintel. Above the lintel are three small leaded-glass windows. The breast wall on the first storey ends above this. To the right of the door the facade has two more large and two small windows with fanlight.
The REAR FACADE has on the left a volume of one storey, in front of which a staircase to the cellar. On the right the facade is in two storeys with a stepped gable. The cross windows are double windows with fanlight and in the stepped gable three small windows. Before the rear facade a conservatory with double windows with fanlight and a double garden door under a flat roof with small overhang. This extends to the left side facade.
The LEFT SIDE FACADE has several windows with fanlight under a gutter overhang. On the roof a roof dormer with roof shield.
The original structure of the INTERIOR has been preserved. VALUABLE INTERIOR COMPONENTS include in particular in the hall the multicoloured tiles, folding doors with fanlight, wainscoting with brick dentil moulding and the stairwell with a leaded-glass window of H. Augustinus, made by C. Alberdingk (1933) at the Cuypers Roermond workshop on behalf of building pastor J.H. van Eys.
