Omschrijving
Inleiding.

Description
Introduction.
The FARMHOUSE, named Wilhelminahoeve, is of the head-body type, situated on the western side of the Helenavaart and forms part of a series of farmhouses at Helenaveen, which the Helenaveen Society built with support from the Koning Willem III fund. The Wilhelminahoeve was built in 1908 and shows typological kinship with the, partly demolished, Oranjehoeve built in 1912, and the Willem III hoeve built in 1913, which are also situated on the western side of the Helenavaart. The Wilhelminahoeve is situated at a small distance from the Helenavaart, on the Soemeersingel.
The layout of these farmhouses is entirely geared to dairy cattle farming, which was to bring new prosperity to the reclaimed peat soil. Each of the farmhouses is situated on one of the older waterways, laid out according to the three-prong system. The unusually large barns for the building period and the spacious dairy cellar beneath the dwelling house are a consequence of the large-scale approach.
Description.
The farmhouse has a roughly rectangular plan, stands at right angles to the axis of the Helenavaart and consists of an eastern part with dwelling house and an attached western business section with barn and overlying taszolder. The whole is single-storey and provided with gabled roofs, covered with concrete tiles (dwelling house) and pan tiles (business section). The dwelling house has a roughly square plan and a symmetrically arranged front facade, standing on the eastern side of the house, with on the ground floor a series of four six-pane windows, above which in high relief the name of the farmhouse and two four-pane windows. The interior of the dwelling house still has components of the original layout. The business section is accessible from the eastern side via the former forecourt. In the eastern facade is an attached wing-entrance gate. The taszolder is accessible via the western facade, where an entrance gate is also located. The building still has parts of the original pine roof trusses.
Valuation.
The farmhouse is of general importance. The building has cultural-historical value as an example of the socio-economic development of agriculture in the reclaimed area of the Peel and as an example of the typological development of the farmhouse.
Architecturally, the property is of value because of its austere ornamentation and its arrangement deviating from traditional regional forms. It has ensemble values in connection with the protected settlement of Helenaveen and its immediate surroundings. The farmhouse is important because of the integrity of its exterior and is typologically rare in this part of the Netherlands.
