Omschrijving
Het WACHTHUISJE behorende bij het complex Oostereiland is opgetrokken in rode baksteen op een vierkant grondplan. Het gebouw is één bouwlaag hoog en voorzien van een overstekend tentdak, bekleed met shingles en voorzien van een piron.
In de voorgevel (W) bevindt zich een houten deur met vierruits raam, geflankeerd door twee vierruits vensters tegen de gevelhoeken, met openslaande ramen. In de zij- en achtergevels zijn reeksen van vier vierruits openslaande vensters aangebracht waaronder baksteen lekdorpels. Hierbij zijn geen muurdammen aangebracht op de hoeken van de voorgevel, waardoor de reeksen tegen de beide vensters in de voorgevel aansluiten.
Waardering
Het object is als gaaf onderdeel van het gevangenis-complex "Oostereiland" van algemeen belang wegens architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde en wegens ensemblewaarde in relatie tot de overige bebouwing op het Oostereiland.

The GUARDHOUSE belonging to the Oostereiland complex is built in red brickwork on a square ground plan. The building is one storey high and provided with an overhanging pitched roof, clad with shingles and fitted with a weathervane.
In the front facade (W) there is a wooden door with a four-pane window, flanked by two four-pane windows against the facade corners, with opening sashes. In the side and rear facades are rows of four four-pane opening windows with brick drip mouldings underneath. No wall divisions have been provided at the corners of the front facade, allowing the rows to connect against both windows in the front facade.
Valuation
The object is as an intact component of the prison complex "Oostereiland" of general importance due to its architectural and cultural historical value and due to ensemble value in relation to the other buildings on Oostereiland.
