PORTIERSGEBOUW met TRANSFORMATORHUISJE behorende tot het complex Oostereiland, bestaande uit twee qua plattegrond vierkante bouwdelen van één bouwlaag hoog, welke naderhand onderling verbonden zijn door middel van een enigszins terugliggend en lager middenstuk met plat dak. Het buitenmuurwerk is uitgevoerd in rode machinale baksteen waalformaat in halfsteens (portiersgebouw) en kruisverband (transformatorhuisje en middendeel). Het portiersgebouw en het transformatorhuisje zijn beide voorzien van een flauwhellend zinkgedekt tentdak met piron, en een geprofileerde daklijst waaronder een gemetselde muizentand. In de voorgevel (W) van het portiersgebouw bevindt zich links een deur met een vierruits raam en een tweeruits, getoogd bovenlicht. Rechts hiervan is een getoogd zesruits venster geplaatst met een vierruits raam waarboven een getoogd tweeruits valraam. Eenzelfde venster bevindt zich in de noord- en oostgevel van dit volume. In het midden van de voorgevel (W) van het transformatorhuisje is een stalen deur aangebracht. Het middenstuk (opslagruimte) heeft in het midden van de voorgevel (W) een opgeklampte dubbele deur.

Het object is als gaaf onderdeel van het gevangeniscomplex "Oostereiland" van algemeen belang wegens architectuur- en cultuurhistorische waarde en vanwege de ensemblewaarde in relatie tot de overige bebouwing op het Oostereiland.

PORTER'S LODGE with TRANSFORMER HOUSE belonging to the Oostereiland complex, consisting of two building sections square in ground plan and one storey high, which were subsequently connected to each other by means of a somewhat recessed and lower central section with flat roof. The external brickwork is executed in red machine-made brickwork in Waal format in half-bond (porter's lodge) and English bond (transformer house and central section). Both the porter's lodge and the transformer house are provided with a gently-sloped zinc-clad pitched roof with weathervane, and a profiled cornice with a dentil course beneath. In the front facade (W) of the porter's lodge there is on the left a door with a four-pane window and a two-pane arched fanlight. To the right of this is an arched six-pane window with a four-pane window above it and an arched two-pane top-hung window. An identical window is located in the north and east facade of this volume. In the centre of the front facade (W) of the transformer house a steel door has been placed. The central section (storage room) has a clamped double door in the centre of the front facade (W).
