Inleiding.
MariaKAPEL, gebouwd naar ontwerp van H.W. Valk in 1936 in traditionalistische stijl. De kapel ligt even buiten de bebouwde kom van Wouw.
Omschrijving.
In groot formaat baksteen opgetrokken kapel. De plattegrond is drielobbig, met een rechte voorkant. Het leien schilddak is aan de achterkant gebogen, aan de voorkant heeft het een driezijdig overstek. De nok wordt aan voor- en achterkant bekroond door een piron. De voorzijde heeft een brede spitsboogvormige opening, aan de onderzijde afgesloten door een smeedijzeren hek, daarboven in de spitsboog op natuurstenen aanzetstenen rechte bakstenen moulants. Voor deze ingang is een halfrond plateau met traptrede aangelegd. De uiteinden van de voorgevel zijn voorzien van overhoeks geplaatste steunberen met natuurstenen afdekking.
De zij- en achtergevels hebben een iets uitstekende plint. Inwendig bakstenen gewelf. In de bakstenen muren is aan de binnenkant op ooghoogte een band met mozaïek aangebracht. Hierin is het opschrift: "ONZE+LIEVE+VROUW+VAN+ALTIJD+DURENDE+BIJSTAND+BID+VOOR+ONS" verwerkt. Op een natuurstenen sokkel in een glazen kastje staat een Mariabeeld.
Waardering.
De kapel is van algemeen cultuurhistorisch belang als uitdrukking van de culturele en geestelijke ontwikkeling in Noord-Brabant, in het bijzonder de verbreiding van de Mariadevotie in het Interbellum. Zij is van architectonische waarde wegens de plaats die zij inneemt in het oeuvre van de architect Valk, in het bijzonder door de combinatie van gotiserende ornamentiek met een karkakteristieke drielobbige plattegrond en een zeer expressieve hoofdvorm. Zij is gaaf bewaard gebleven en een zeldzaam voorbeeld van de uitwerking van het kapelmotief.

Chapel constructed in large-format brick. The plan is three-lobed, with a straight front. The slate hipped roof is curved at the rear, at the front it has a three-sided overhang. The ridge is crowned by a finial at front and rear. The front face has a broad pointed-arch opening, closed at the bottom by a wrought-iron grille, above it in the pointed arch straight brick mouldings on natural stone springer stones. In front of this entrance a semicircular platform with steps has been laid. The ends of the front gable are provided with diagonally placed buttresses with natural stone capping.
The side and rear gables have a slightly projecting plinth. Interior brick vault. In the brick walls on the inside at eye level a band with mosaic has been inserted. In this the inscription: "ONZE+LIEVE+VROUW+VAN+ALTIJD+DURENDE+BIJSTAND+BID+VOOR+ONS" is incorporated. On a natural stone plinth in a glass case stands a statue of Maria.
Valuation.
The chapel is of general cultural-historical importance as an expression of cultural and spiritual development in Noord-Brabant, in particular the spread of Marian devotion in the Interbellum.
