Omschrijving
Inleiding.
WINKEL-WOONHUIS, gebouwd in 1912 naar een ontwerp van architect J. de Lepper. In de bouwstijl zijn elementen van Art Nouveau verwerkt. In 1994 vond een grondige restauratie plaats. Naast de linkerzijgevel is een smalle steeg, van de straat afgesloten door een poortje, rechts tegen het pand aan staan lagere panden uit dezelfde bouwperiode.
Omschrijving.
Drielaags, half vrijstaand winkel-woonhuis op een licht taps toelopende plattegrond. Het pand heeft een zadeldak waarvan de nok evenwijdig aan de straat loopt. Het zadeldak is gedekt met leien en heeft aan de voorzijde een goot op klossen. Het voordakvlak is voorzien van een tweetal uitspringende dakkapellen welke voorzien zijn van T-ramen. Op de begane grond bevindt zich de winkel met een grote etalage, in het midden daarvan een diep portiek. De etalage is op een hardstenen plint geplaatst en heeft hardstenen penanten, bewerkt met geometrische motieven. De portiek is lager dan de rest van de begane grond, aan de straatzijde is boven de portiek een raam geplaatst. Erboven is de voorgevel uitgevoerd in rode strengperssteen voorzien speklagen in zwarte steen. Verder is de gevel voorzien van baksteen lisenen op natuurstenen consoles op de hoeken en in het midden van de gevel. De bovenzijde is versierd met lijstwerk, eveneens uitgevoerd in baksteen. Zowel op de eerste als op de tweede verdieping zijn vier T-ramen aangebracht, voorzien van bovenlichten met roedenverdeling, gevuld met glas-in-lood. De ramen worden aan de bovenzijde afgesloten door een hardstenen latei, op de tweede verdieping is daarboven een segmentboog in het metselwerk aangebracht. Tussen de eerste en tweede verdieping zijn ter plekke van de ramen stucreliëfs met van links naar rechts voorstellingen van de Lente, de Zomer, de Herfst en de Winter. De zijgevels zijn uitgevoerd in donkere baksteen.
Waardering.
Het winkelwoonhuis is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorische waarde als voorbeeld van de sociaal-economische ontwikkeling, met name de schaalvergroting binnen het oude stedelijk centrum. The gabled roof is covered with slate and has a gutter on corbels at the front. The roof slope is provided with two projecting roof dormers fitted with T-windows. On the ground floor is the shop with a large display window, in the centre of which is a deep porch. The display window is placed on a hardstone plinth and has hardstone pilasters, decorated with geometric motifs. The porch is lower than the rest of the ground floor; above the porch on the street side is a window. Above this the front facade is executed in red pressed brick with courses in black stone. The facade is further provided with brick pilasters on natural stone corbels at the corners and in the centre of the facade. The top is decorated with moulding, likewise executed in brick. Both on the first and second storeys four T-windows are installed, fitted with fanlights with glazing bars, filled with leaded glass. The windows are closed at the top with a hardstone lintel; on the second storey above this a segmental arch is set in the masonry. Between the first and second storeys at the location of the windows are stucco reliefs with representations, from left to right, of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. The side gables are executed in dark brick.
