Omschrijving
Voormalig raadhuis, thans museum en gemeente-archief. Gebouwd of herbouwd na een brand in 1572, oorspronkelijk van trapgevels aan voor- en zijkanten voorzien, die in 1830 vervangen werden door een dwars schilddak met gekoepelde dakruiter; de gevels sedertdien gebosseerd gepleisterd. In 1893 opnieuw verbouwd en van een dakkapel aan de voorzijde voorzien. Bordes uit 1730. Inwendig: door riblozen kruisgewelven met gordelbogen op middenzuilen en kraagstenen overdekte benedenhal. In de raadzaal: zwart en gepolijste hardstenen schouw in Lodewijk XV stijl door M.Danco uit Antwerpen (1752); tegen de noordmuur een eiken koorbalustrade (1634), afkomstig uit de R.K. Kerk van Nispen. In de dakruiter: klok, in 1603 gegoten door Cornelis Janssens. In de oostgevel ingemetseld: hardstenen grafzerk van het gezin Vosbergh (omgekomen in 1662). In de zuidgevel ingemetseld: hardstenen grafzerk van Marienus Cuypers (overleden 1768), afkomstig uit Essen.

Description
Former town hall, now museum and municipal archive. Built or rebuilt after a fire in 1572, originally provided with stepped gables on front and sides, which in 1830 were replaced by a transverse hipped roof with domed roof monitor; the facades have since been bosded and plastered. In 1893 rebuilt again and provided with a roof dormer on the front. Steps from 1730. Internally: covered lower hall by ribless cross vaults with belt arches on central columns and corbels. In the council chamber: black and polished hardstone chimney in Louis XV style by M. Danco from Antwerp (1752); against the north wall an oak choir balustrade (1634), originating from the R.K. Church of Nispen. In the roof monitor: bell, cast in 1603 by Cornelis Janssens. Built into the east gable: hardstone grave slab of the Vosbergh family (perished in 1662). Built into the south gable: hardstone grave slab of Marienus Cuypers (died 1768), originating from Essen.
