Inleiding.
Vrijstaande VILLA, gebouwd in 1929 naar ontwerp van architect Jac. Hurks. Het pand is gebouwd in Amsterdamse Schoolstijl. Behalve als eigen woonhuis van de architect was de villa tot 1940 ook als kantoor in gebruik. Het huis is op de hoek van de Ludwigstraat en Stationsstraat gelegen en schuin geplaatst. Het pand maakt deel uit van een samenhangend ensemble van woningen.
Omschrijving.
Drielaagse bouwmassa op een rechthoekige plattegrond onder samengesteld parabooldak. Tegen de linkerhoek staat een kleine uitbouw waarboven het dak uitwaaiert. De rechterhoek is van een erker met afgeschuinde zijden voorzien, waarboven een balkon met bakstenen borstwering. De schuine zijden hebben een zaagtandmotief in het metselwerk. Het midden van de gevel is hoger opgemetseld. Op de begane grond bevindt zich de ingangspartij, bestaande uit een portiek met paraboolboog waarin een houten deur met glas-in-lood zijlichten, erboven een groot glas-in-lood raam met uitstekende horizontale houten roeden, dat de plaats van het trappenhuis aangeeft. De korte gevel aan de Stationsstraat heeft een topgevel. Op de begane grond bevindt zich een puntig uitstekende erker waarboven een balkon met openslaande deuren, ervoor is een bakstenen borstwering gemaakt. In de top is een klein raam zichtbaar. De achtergevel is éénlaags, het dak loopt hier verder door.

The centre of the facade is built higher. On the ground floor the entrance section is located, consisting of a porch with parabolic arch containing a wooden door with stained-glass sidelights, above it a large stained-glass window with projecting horizontal wooden glazing bars, indicating the location of the stairwell. The short elevation on Stationsstraat has a stepped gable. On the ground floor a sharply projecting bay window is located above which a balcony with French doors, before it a brick parapet is made. In the top a small window is visible. The rear elevation is single-storey, the roof continues here.
Valuation.
The building is of general importance. It has cultural-historical value as an example of socio-economic development, namely the urban planning expansion of the city in the Interwar period. It has architectural-historical value because of the carefully executed design in brick and is an important work in the oeuvre of the Roosendaal-active architect Hurks.
