Inleiding.
TRANSFORMATORHUISJE, gebouwd in circa 1920 in een Expressionistische stijl. Het object ligt aan de Kerkstraat, op de hoek, van de straat met een zijpad.
Omschrijving.
Bakstenen transformatorhuisje op onregelmatige vijfhoekige plattegrond. Het trafohuisje is één bouwlaag hoog en heeft een plat dak voorzien van een betonnen overstek. Twee gevels lopen parallel aan de Kerkstraat en het schuin daaropstaande pad. De gevelvlakken zijn voorzien van lisenen en bakstenen tandlijsten, zowel horizontaal als vertikaal aangebracht. Aan de kant van het pad is in het middelste vlak een stalen deur geplaatst.
Waardering.
Het trafohuisje is van algemeen belang. Het heeft cultuurhistorisch belang als uitdrukking van de sociaal-economische en typologische ontwikkeling, met name als herinnering aan het eerste begin van de electriciteitsvoorziening in Noord-Brabant. Het heeft architectonische waarde vanwege de veelheid aan bakstenen siermotieven en heeft wegens zijn functie industrieel-archeologische waarde. Het is gaaf bewaard gebleven en als voorbeeld van een trafohuisje in deze stijl uiterst zeldzaam.

Brick transformer station on an irregular pentagonal floor plan. The transformer station is one storey high and has a flat roof provided with a concrete overhang. Two facades run parallel to the Kerkstraat and the path set at an angle to it. The facade surfaces are provided with pilaster strips and brick tooth mouldings, applied both horizontally and vertically. On the side of the path a steel door is placed in the middle section.
Valuation.
The transformer station is of general importance. It has cultural-historical importance as an expression of the socio-economic and typological development, in particular as a reminder of the earliest beginnings of electricity supply in North Brabant. It has architectural value because of the multitude of brick decorative motifs and has industrial-archaeological value because of its function. It has been preserved in good condition and as an example of a transformer station in this style is extremely rare.
