Inleiding.
De voormalige NOODKERK werd in 1918 gebouwd in Neo-Romaanse stijl naar ontwerp van architect Jac. van Gils, in afwachting van de nog te bouwen hoofdkerk, schuin achter de hulpkerk aan de Prins Bernhardlaan. Nadat deze O.L. Vrouw van Lourdeskerk tussen 1926 en 1928 voltooid werd, heeft het gebouw gediend als patronaat en parochiehuis. In 1976 werd het verbouwd tot wijkcentrum, waarbij de ramen, deur en interieur grondig werden gewijzigd.
Omschrijving.
Het gebouw heeft een rechthoekige plattegrond en een basilicale opbouw. De plint is van donkerrode, de rest van de gevels van lichtrode machinale baksteen. Op het zadeldak van het middenschip en de lessenaardaken van de zijbeuken liggen zwarte oudhollandse dakpannen. De voor- en zijgevels worden geleed door penanten annex steunberen. De centraal gelegen ingangspartij met topgevel waarin een lege driepasbeeldnis springt iets uit en heeft een afdekking van geverfde hardstenen platen en hoekblokken. De ingang met rondboog wordt geflankeerd door twee rondbogige blinde nissen. Links hiervan bevindt zich een gevelsteen met de tekst: "Immaculata virginii sacramentum die 27 maji MCMVII Jos S.A.M. de Meulemeester par." Boven de ingangspartij bevindt zich een tegeltableau dat over de gehele breedte van de middenbeuk doorloopt met de tekst: "Per Mariam ad Jesum". Hierboven een thans blind roosvenster met erboven en ernaast keperboogvormige blinde nissen met vorktracering. De middenbeuk wordt van de zijbeuken gescheiden door penanten met een hardstenen afdekblok. In elk van de vijf zijbeuktraveeën bevinden zich twee gekoppelde rondboogvensters met een doorlopende hardstenen onderdorpel en tandlijsten. Introduction.
The former EMERGENCY CHURCH was built in 1918 in Neo-Romanesque style according to a design by architect Jac. van Gils, pending the construction of the main church, diagonally behind the auxiliary church on Prins Bernhardlaan. The building has a rectangular plan and a basilica structure. The plinth is of dark red, the rest of the facades of light red machine-made brick. On the gabled roof of the nave and the lean-to roofs of the side aisles lie black old Dutch roof tiles. The front and side facades are articulated by pilasters as well as buttresses. The centrally located entrance section with stepped gable in which an empty trefoil image projects slightly forward and has a covering of painted stone slabs and corner blocks. The entrance with a round arch is flanked by two round-arched blind niches. To the left of this is a foundation stone with the text: "Immaculata virginii sacramentum die 27 maji MCMVII Jos S.A.M. de Meulemeester par."
