Gietijzeren FONTEIN uit 1885 van de firma I. Schütz en Zoon uit Zeist, gesitueerd aan de oostzijde van het plantsoen tussen de Janssingels. De fontein vormt het middelpunt van een langgerekt rechthoekig bassin, waarvan de lange zijden in het midden een verbreding vertonen.
De fontein bezit een kruisvormige voet waarop de firmanaam is aangebracht: "I. Schütz en Zoon Zeist 1885". Vanuit het middelpunt rijst een rijk gedecoreerde achtzijdige schacht op, die een groot waterbekken draagt. Op elk van de vier kruisarmen zit een forse water spuwende draak, in de vorm van een griffioen met drakekop. De vleugels raken de schacht van de fontein. Deze is op de tussenliggende zijden gedecoreerd met een hangend koord en een schelpmotief. Hierboven bevinden zich water spuwende vissekoppen. De geprofileerde onderzijde van het fonteinbekken is voorzien van acht panelen met schelpmotieven en guirlandes, versierd met "stromend en spuitend water motieven". Onder de rijk gedecoreerde rand hangen sierknoppen op de hoeken van het achtzijdige bekken. Op de schuine rand van elk der acht zijden bevindt zich een water spuwend schelpmotief, geflankeerd door dolfijntjes. Uit het midden van het waterbekken rijst een ronde sokkel op, waarop twee ineengestrengelde draken zitten. Eén draak heeft een vis in de bek. Uit de bek van de andere draak komt de geprofileerde bloemknopvormige hoofdspuwer van de fontein te voorschijn.
De schacht en het waterbekken zijn oker, en de dieren zijn groen geschilderd.

Cast iron FOUNTAIN from 1885 by the firm I. Schütz en Zoon from Zeist, situated on the east side of the garden between the Janssingels. The fountain forms the centre of an elongated rectangular basin, of which the long sides show a widening in the middle.
The fountain has a cross-shaped base on which the firm name is inscribed: "I. Schütz en Zoon Zeist 1885". From the centre rises a richly decorated octagonal shaft, which carries a large water basin. On each of the four arms of the cross sits a robust water-spouting dragon, in the form of a griffon with a dragon's head. The wings touch the shaft of the fountain. This is decorated on the intermediate sides with a hanging cord and a shell motif. Above these are water-spouting fish heads. The profiled underside of the fountain basin is fitted with eight panels with shell motifs and garlands, decorated with "flowing and spurting water motifs". Under the richly decorated edge hang ornamental knobs at the corners of the octagonal basin. On the slanting edge of each of the eight sides is a water-spouting shell motif, flanked by small dolphins. From the centre of the water basin rises a round base, on which sit two intertwined dragons. One dragon has a fish in its mouth. From the mouth of the other dragon emerges the profiled flower-bud-shaped main spout of the fountain.
The shaft and the water basin are ochre, and the animals are painted green.
