BEELD van Bentheimer zandsteen, waarschijnlijk voorstellende Hestia (dochter van Kronos en Rhea), gesitueerd in het plantsoen tussen de Jansbinnen- en Jansbuitensingel. Hestia was niet alleen de verpersoonlijking van het "huiselijke" haardvuur, maar ook de beschermgodin van het stadshaardvuur. Bij de Romeinen was zij bekend onder de naam Vesta. Het beeld is geplaatst op een zandstenen sokkel op vierkante grondslag. De sokkel bezit een eenvoudig geprofileerd basement en hierboven een zich licht verjongende schacht met aan elke zijde een paneel met spaarveld, dat aan de onder- en bovenzijde afsluit met een schouderboogje. Hierboven bevindt zich een fries met palmetten en een eenvoudig geprofileerde dekplaat. Hestia is geheel gekleed in een tot de op de voeten vallend, dun gewaad, dat aan de bovenzijde de rechter borst onbedekt laat. Over dit ondergewaad draagt zij een sterk geplooid kleed, afhangend vanaf haar armen en aan de achterzijde tot aan het voetstuk reikend. Met haar neerhangende linker hand houdt zij een tip van dit kleed vast. Het haar is aan de achterzijde bijeen gebonden, terwijl een paar lange strengen over de rug vallen. Op haar hoofd draagt zij een kroon. Aan haar voeten draagt zij sandalen met scheenbeschermers, voorzien van rozetten. Het rechter been dient als standbeen, het linker been als speelbeen. In de opgeheven rechter hand draagt zij een vuurpotje, waarvan het deksel is verdwenen. De rechter voet is geplaatst op een soort kussen of zak, waarbij aan de voorzijde bloemen liggen. Achter deze voet bevindt zich een thans beschadigde kroon. Links van Hestia staat een grote vaas waarin een kroon en zwaard. De vaas is gedecoreerd met een lauwerkrans.

STATUE of Bentheimer sandstone, probably depicting Hestia (daughter of Kronos and Rhea), situated in the public garden between the Jansbinnen- and Jansbuitensingel. Hestia was not only the personification of the "domestic" hearth fire, but also the protective goddess of the city's hearth fire. Among the Romans she was known by the name Vesta. The statue is placed on a sandstone plinth on a square base. The plinth has a simply profiled basement and above it a shaft tapering slightly upwards, with on each side a panel with a spare field, which closes at the bottom and top with a shoulder arch. Above this is a frieze with palmettes and a simply profiled capping stone. Hestia is fully clothed in a thin garment falling to her feet, which at the top leaves the right breast uncovered. Over this undergarment she wears a heavily pleated garment, hanging from her arms and extending to the plinth at the rear. With her lowered left hand she holds a tip of this garment. Her hair is bound up at the back, while a couple of long strands fall over her back. On her head she wears a crown. At her feet she wears sandals with shin protectors, provided with rosettes. The right leg serves as the standing leg, the left leg as the free leg. In her raised right hand she carries a fire pot, the lid of which has disappeared. The right foot is placed on a kind of cushion or bag, with flowers lying in front. Behind this foot is now a damaged crown. To the left of Hestia stands a large vase in which a crown and sword. The vase is decorated with a laurel wreath.
